Taking naps and also going to bed as early as possible. Coffee is also my friend.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I hear you. I was pretty wired in the early days. My family would tell me to go sleep and I'd just lay in bed awake. I figured even if I wasn't sleeping, the rest and quiet was somehow beneficial to my body anyway. You might try some meditation tracks? I used to fall asleep to them a lot when I was ttc/pg and super anxious. I like the ones on Health Journeys by Belleruth Naparstek.

As much slack as you can cut yourself - try not to expect anything from yourself except keeping yourself and your baby clean/safe/fed. Any help you can marshal - partner, family, paid sitter? Can you try cosleeping?

@MerryC: @purrpletulips: I can usually fall asleep with him on my chest, but I've gotten so little sleep the last few days that I'm having trouble falling asleep - guess I'm just overtired.

Coffee and lots of it. Kidding...but I still haven't figured it out, and could use some tips too.

I used to sleep sitting up in the rocking chair while holding a sleeping DD. I also fell asleep a couple of times with DS sleeping on my chest.

Can someone you trust watch baby while you sleep? Even on the couch next to them? Are you not able to sleep while he is on you?

Sidenote, do you have a bouncer? We have one that is narrow, without music and only 2 levels of vibration (think high!) and its awesome for when the babes only want to be in our arms. We swaddle (when they were tiny), get them sleepy in our arms, put in there, put a blanket or stuffed animal on their chest for weight, rock the bouncer....usually we can transfer that way.

The Trikester is only sleeping in my arms, so I'm working on 5 hours of sleep over the last 48 hours. At this point I'm so overtired I can't fall asleep and am fighting anxiety - which just makes the sleep deprivation worse. How do you deal with sleep deprivation? Any tricks?
