@luckypenny: @erinpye: Can you guys redirect your LOs to another activity without a tantrum when you get tired of reading the same book over?

My son likes to put things in a line. He lines up his cars, his animals, blocks, whatever.

Books! She really loves turning the pages!

She also loves to stand up in the tub . . . up, down, up, down, up, down, up, down . . . it's adorable, but exhausting for mama! :P

ETA: She also loves flap books so that she can open all the flaps!

@Mrs. Twine: No! Make it stop! DH is downloading the song and going to play it on a loop to make our lives easier. I wonder if we can record ourselves reading the book she likes so that we can take breaks.

@BunnyDragon: I can only hope for just a month of this.

Oh man, I am not looking forward to more of this. So far, her thing is to attack the plants. She will do it over and over, thinking it's a game. For awhile it was trying to pick and poke our poor, still green tomatoes, but she now knows she's not supposed to do it. Then it was the chilies, now it's trying to eat the sedum in the front and she also loves to run out of the yard, onto the sidewalk and around the driveway ... over and over.

My LO went through a phase like that for a month, if not longer. He watched a 3:30 mins Sesame Street music number at least 15 to 20 times a day and wanted the same dr. Seuss book read to him every night. It was hard, but we got through it and so will you :-)

Unfortunately it can be long-lived. Lorelei loves putting pom-poms into a bottle and "fishing" them out with a long-handled tweezers. Or feeding treats to the dogs (over and over and over-- we will have very fat dogs one day!). Or singing the same song over and over. I was willing to make a deal with the devil and only ever listen to Yanni or Michael Bolton ever again if I just didn't have to sing B-I-N-G-O one more time (Lorelei calls it "Name-o") because it made my head want to explode.

I read her new favorite book 10 times today. Her dad read it to her 6 times. And her new favorite book is sort of hard to read because you have to repeat please, baby baby please on every page. LO still had a tantrum because we didn't read it enough.

She also needed to watch the opening to Angelina Ballerina about 10-15x. It's 45 seconds long and when I wouldn't replay it she figured out how to start it. I closed my laptop and she picked it up and tried to bring it to me and broke the cover.

The only good thing about this is that she knows how to say Pease (please) and ba-nina (ballerina) now. I'm so tired.

Is your toddler in the phase of having to do the same activity over and over again? Someone tell me this doesn't last throughout the entire toddlerhood. Please?
