I didn't notice any pop or gushing, and it wasn't even trickling at that point so I really wasn't sure - I was actually about to go back to bed (lying on a towel, ha) but then I realized I should go downstairs and at least tell DH and call the doctor... After I got off the phone with her, I noticed a steady stream leaking out so I figured this was really it! I was group B positive so they had me come to the hospital to be checked out right away, even though I was not yet having contractions. LO's head was already very low almost nothing came out and labor just stopped progressing. Truth be told, I thought so because I dealt with a bit of incontinence at the end! My midwife assured me that I'd definitely know. The next night just as we were in bed I felt a gush and I popped up right away and told my husband excitedly! We were thrilled because I was over a week late and they were threatening induction. I had a really strong one, and went running to the bathroom to throw up. My husband was peeking in the door and I looked up from having my head in the toilet and said "either I peed myself or my water just broke." Went to the hospital and it was indeed my water although I was only dilated to a pitiful 1.5cm. The night that it broke I felt like I let out a little pee and it happened a few more times over the next several hours. When I went to l&amp;d they confirmed it and I was in the hospital on strict bed rest for the next 7 days until I went into labor. I was planning a wedding shower for a friend with her mom and moh (I barely knew either of them) I had already gone to l&amp;d once and had been told it was just urine (nice) so I was embarrassed to say something because it was a slowish trickle. But by the time I got to the car to leave it was more obvious and my ob told me to come in. I drove myself to the hospital and started having painless contractions on the way. They started really hurting about 2 hours later once all the water had finished trickling. But at least it didn't happen that day at school.
