My little guy was on Zantac from 2-6 months. He started having green poops pretty early, but not mucousy. I cut out dairy and nuts for the reflux which seemed to help his symptoms a lot but didn't do much for the poop. I think it was a foremilk/hindmilk thing. Our pediatrician said its not a concern to her unless he wasn't gaining weight. And he never had any weight issues

our daughter had green mucus poop starting at 3-4 wks old. We tried formula one day at that point and she had blood in her diaper...so our dairy intolerance was pretty easy to pinpoint. She started Alimentum and her poop went back to normal within a week. She was later diagnosed with reflux and Zantac did not affect poop at all! I would definitely look at eliminating some foods! We ended up going with Alimentum because our family has many severe allergies that I was worried about being a problem for her and I was already exclusively pumping and feeling like my supply was in trouble from not nursing anyway.

@SLR: really extensive with both my kids  Dairy, soy, wheat, eggs, fish and nuts. In both cases they were gaining weight and weren't super fussy. Mucusy poop and bad reflux were the main symptoms.

@Truth Bombs: OK, good to know! What were the allergies that you dealt with? I've been thinking about eliminating dairy for a few weeks to see if it helps, although she really doesn't seem bothered by it.

I'm not aware of green mucusy poops being a side effect of Ranitidine, and it was not for us.

I have dealt with food allergies in both my kids and with my daughter they showed up at 5 weeks and with my son it was about 8 weeks. So definitely possible unfortunately.

My 10 week old has been on Ranitidine for about six weeks now. For the past two weeks, she has had green poops that are sometimes watery, sometimes mucousy. It seems the usual causes are food sensitivities, stomach bugs, or foremilk/hindmilk balance, but I was curious if it could also be a side effect of the medicine. Has anyone noticed any impact on baby's poops as a result of Zantac?

Also, with regards to food sensitivities being the cause, is it possible for the green diapers to start at one month old or would we have seen them from the start? (No changes to diet)
