@MsLipGloss: Our ped initially thought he didn't have reflux b/c he wasn't a huge spitter upper until 4 months (but from one month on, did a lot of arching/getting mad at feedings). We went on Zantac at 6 weeks and honestly I don't think it made a difference and then at 4 months when he had dairy problems, our ped sent us to a GI who immediately put him on prilosec and we saw a drastic improvmeent on the spitting up AND eating in general. By 9 months he had outgrown the dosage and was doing well otherwise so we weaned : ) How is your LO doing?

@winniebee: We're in the same boat. Zantax never made a dent in LO's reflux. We had to see a Ped GI specialist to get a prescription for Prilosec.

Could be teething? Either way, I'd follow up with the pediatriciation. FWIW, Zantac never worked for my son - we ended up seeing a pediatric GI speciliast. Prilosec did the trick (though we weaned at 9 months when he wasn't spitting up and had almost outgrown the dosage).

Zantac does contain alcohol which may irritate your LO. It's also a weight dependent dosage so she might not be on the right dosage. Does she only get it at night? If she gets it during the day how does she seem after a dosage? Also Zantac alone may not be enough. It wears off and a few hours in if she is having bad reflux, which is usually worse at night, she may need something that is delayed released like a ppi.

Zantac never worked at all when LO was smaller like that. He was only able to tolerate it after 18 months and he still had to take Zantac (pm) and prevacid (am...when he was just on prevacid it was an am/pm dose). Prevacid takes 2 weeks to fully kick in or get out of their systems when you stop, but it has helped greatly.

I highly recommend looking into a pediatric GI if you don't already have one. They took my LO's reflex seriously and were able to finally help us.

Personally, Zantac helps me sleep, cause the reflux I get from pregnancy keeps me awake. I would think for your LO, it would be the same.

Does sound like teething...the top teeth are a little bigger, and so is she, so she's gonna react a little differently to them.

LO is 9 months old and was put on Zantac for reflux a few days ago. She is still spitting up A LOT, including solid food. And in 3 months she had dropped from 61% in weight to 40%.

Last night she was up and down all night, which is highly unusual. She normally sleeps through the night. She was just standing in her crib screaming. I rocked her, changed her, brought her to bed with us. As long as I was holding her she was fine, but wide awake. I ended up just putting her in her crib after 2 hours with toys. She cried for 15 ish minutes until she feel asleep and kept waking up and repeating the cycle.

Any clue what else it could be? Her top gums were a little swollen yesterday, but she didn't have this much trouble when her bottom teeth were coming in. No fever.

Any ideas?
