My DD was a swaddle addict until 6m then she started rolling in it. With her the main culprit was overstimulation. She just found her hands way to fascinating so the zippy was a godsend because it kept her hands under wraps but she was still able grab a paci etc. Plus she wasn't able to break her hands out of it like she could from the foldover jammys. She is still sleeping in them now (in a size large) at 20m albeit she can now take it off herself if she wants to.

We mostly used the zipadeezip because DD2s room was the coolest in the house and her fingers would be freezing in the morning once she could get out of her swaddle. I don't think the actual concept of it (slightly restricting but not totally) was that helpful, though.

In your shoes, tried merlin with no success, and i also tried the zippadee zip with my then 5 month old. He didn't like it. Went straight to a sleep sack and had 2 crappy nights of sleep but otherwise was fine!

We used the Merlin sleep suit for a transition from the swaddle. Then once they started rolling over we moved them into the zipadeezip. Main reason for using it was my son would scratch his face. Socks or mittens would sometimes come off. Then the zipadeezip got too warm in the summer months and we started using just sleep sacks. Then even sleep sacks got too warm and they slept in their diapers when we had a heat wave. All around the same time, he started standing in his crib. When it got a little cooler and it was time for sleepsacks again, he hated not being able to have his hands out to grab the crib bars to stand.

I have a few zipadeezips I need to sell on the classifieds.

Zipadeezips was great during the few months we used it. I would really recommend it for kids that scratch their face a lot.

@snowjewelz: Exactly this. The Merlin was a godsend for us, but DD hated the Zipadeezip. I think it was a combo of two things: 1) not restrictive enough, and 2) she sucks her pointer and middle fingers and couldn't get to them through it.

We started using the zippadee zip after the Merlin suit stopped working for us. She needed more freedom of movement and she wasn't sleeping well in the Merlin any more. I think we transitioned around six months. For us it worked really well because she self soothes by sucking on the fabric over her hands. She's still using it at 19 months and I have no idea how we're going to get her out of it when she outgrows this size. Haha. :silly:

We used the Merlin suit, but it only worked when DS2's hands were covered underneath it (with those sleepers that have the built in hand cover things). When he was done with Merlin, we did transition into the zipadeezip. He loved it!

We have! We started our LO in the zipadeezip whenever he started rolling over in the Merlin - so maybe around the age of your LO? I don't remember to be honest with you. He had a couple of transition nights but he ended up doing well with it. He's 2 and just now starting to want to sleep in just jammies! I think he likes his hands being covered and feeling a little contained.

Aww, I'm sorry merlin suit didn't help! For us that was awesome. DD never liked having her hands restricted/hidden so she did not like the zipadee.

Has anyone used a zipzadeezip? My almost 5 month old is a terrible sleeper ever since he started breaking out of his swaddle. I bought a Merlin suit and it hasn't helped at all. Wondering if I should invest in a zipzadeezip. Tell me about your zipzadeezip experience! Thank you!
