@Mrsbells: the straw is 2 parts. Underneath the valve it's removable and it's a harder silicone. The straw sippy part on top IS a soft silicone but not as soft as the Zoli.

with regard to the Zoli leaking, this has worked for me enough times that the leaking isn't an issue anymore....
I can sometimes see the liquid moving up the straw, but I just take a sip from the straw and that seems to fix the problem. I only get leaks now when I put the top on REALLY tight and forget to take a little sip, maybe to relieve pressure(?), I don't know, but it works for us and I am still team Zoli.

so far we havetn had any real leaking issues with the zoli, so we are still on team zoli. Hopefully we dont run into this. I really like the soft silicone straw with the weight. @regberadaisy: Does the Thinkster have a soft or hard straw?

@autumnlove: how old is E? (Der. She's 12-13 months) M is 9 months and I would say size wise proportionally it's like her 7 month old self using a 6oz! She has no problem flinging that thing around!

I know many of us belabor over which is the better straw sippy to buy. Or at least I know I did!

I just wanted to share my experience!

After doing a bit of research and asking for advice on the boards I ended up getting the Zoli for M to try. I bought it when she was 7 months old but didn't start regularly bringing it out till about 2 weeks later when she really grasped the concept. At the beginning she just played with it and bit on the straw etc..
At first the zoli was great! The soft silicone straw and the weighted straw was great allowing her to drink water by herself. And because of the weight at the bottom no matter how she twist it there was always water. But soon we began to see problems. It leaked ALL THE TIME. To the point where she would get herself soaked. I don't know if it was a manufacturer defect or if she was just too darn abusive on the cup! She would literally slam that thing on the table for as long as we let her!

So back to the straw sippy cup search! I already knew about the major ones such as the lolla, think baby, take and toss etc etc. None of which can claim that it does not leak from the users on this board. Finally I decided to give the Think Baby a try.

So far we've been using it for 2 weeks and I like it a lot more. It does not leak nearly as much as the Zoli. For one the zoli always leaked if there was still water in the straw and if you did not close the lid "just right".
The TB will leak a bit if there is still water in the straw but I don't have to be as concerend about closing the lid "just right".
And the straw is much much easier to clean. There is no "weight" at the bottom. But the straw is removable thus making it a lot easier to clean.

So my verdict? The Zoli is a much better beginner straw sippy bc it's easier to suck and smaller but in the long run the TB gets my vote. The zoli is 6 oz while the TB is 9 oz.

This is just my experience with the two so take it with a grain of salt! :)

Zoli: http://www.amazon.com/Zoli-BOT-Orange-Straw-Sippy/dp/B0031E1GEQ
wow! It was $10 when I bought it!

Think Baby Thinkster: http://www.amazon.com/Thinkbaby-Thinkster-Bottle-Natural-Orange/dp/B004XV11D2
