@MamaBear87: good luck! There are definitely a few there—I am a few hours south of you now but lived in Tempe for a while! there used to be an outlet-type one at Arizona mills but I don’t know if it is still there.

I have things kind of like this:
https://www.loft.com/floral-mixed-media-flutter-top/461036?skuId=24486873&defaultColor=2222&catid=catl000011
That are cute and comfortable. I would never actually spend $45 on this but 50% off is more reasonable.

I used to stress about the cost of clothes like this but as I got older I realized I tended to wear the same favorite things in rotation and it was worth spending a little more.

@MamaBear87: i will! I selected the lowest price points (I still have some baby weight to lose so don't want anything super expensive)..I should get an email tomorrow with my stylists pulls. I like that i can veto stuff before the box ships. Also, free alterations for anything you purchase. fingers crossed! My "style" is super casual; I'm interested to see what she pulls.

Lately I’ve had good luck with resale shops. There are a couple of new ones in my city that turned out to be really good. They are picky about the items they take to sell and organize the store in a really convenient way (by type, then size, then color, etc.). It made it really easy for me to find the specific pieces I wanted to fill out a capsule wardrobe. It was really helpful to have so many brands and styles in one place, without it looking like a mountain of junk. This year the popular neckline isn’t the most flattering on me, but at the resale shop I was able to find what I wanted since they carry styles from more than one season. I’m going to start shopping resale more often. I just got my first shipment from thredUP as well; got some nice silk items for less than I’d pay for a bargain piece at old navy.

@MamaBear87: I would say that 80-90% of my “cute tops” are from Loft. They are comfortable enough to wear on the weekends but the patterns and fabric are nice enough to wear to work (we have a pretty casual office). The sticker prices look expensive but they regularly have sales of 40-50% off everything. So I can get a cute shirt for $20-30 and they hold up better than old navy in my opinion. Maybe worth a trip if there is one near you?

@looch: I'm not against going in I just would love to find someone that I actually like the clothes that isn't crazy expensive.
I don't like jcp, kohl's, or sears because I feel they have juniors clothes and then older women clothes and nothing in between. I like the discount stores but I just don't have the child free time to go digging there. Buying clothes is such a chore now

@MamaBear87: If you are not sure about sizes, I do think you have to either go to a store and figure out what brands fit you, or order a whole bunch of stuff and do a return.

I buy almost all my clothes online these days, but when I am buying pants from a new place, if they have a store, I go in and try them on. Then I buy online in the styles and colors that I want.

@MamaBear87: so I’m an interesting turn of events I just signed up for trunk club. I’m so impressionable. Ugh. I’ll let you know how it goes! (I have a Nordstrom card so the waived fee was a perk, also they only send you a box when you request one and you get to preapprove the items they are going to send you).

If you haven't gone shopping for yourself in awhile, I would go to a brick and mortar store. Kohl's, JCP, Old Navy all have decent sales on a regular basis and you can try on different styles to see what appeals to you.

Their sizes for me are hit and miss. I'd recommend Jane.com for new shirts :) They have an app too, I love it. Most of my shirts are from there.

Agree with others. I think if something is loose-ish fitting then maybe you can go for it. Shipping is also expensive IMO. If you are determined, I'd google up the actual brand and double check the sizing on the brand's actual website too. I've ordered shoes for DD where their size chart say 1 thing but the official brand's size chart say another. So in that way I was able to return & get a refund...

Zulily doesn't have its own line of clothing - it aggregates various different brands, so the quality, fit, etc. are all different and completely brand dependent.

That being said, I wouldn't shop there if you haven't bought anything for yourself in a long time. You can't return anything, and I wouldn't risk spending the money on it if you don't know what brand/size/style is most flattering on you.

I’d look somewhere else to shop for clothes. Zulilly’s shipping can take forever and you can’t return anything! I’ve been stuck with clothes that don’t fit well after ordering from them, so I stopped ordering clothes and only order other things I don’t think I’d ever need to return.
