If W seemed like she was uncomfortable, I gave it to her. She had it quite a bit by the time she was M's age because of all the ear infections, even when there wasn't a fever. In other words, I would go ahead ad give it to her to give her relief.

I'd give her some before bed if she isn't feeling well and is seeming uncomfortable.

We use it for teething even without a fever if he seems to be really bothered and also when he had an ear infection.

I give it to my lo whenever there is any discomfort. I would also take lo to the doc if the congestion and discomfort lasted a while to make sure it isn't an ear infection. When my lo was that age, it seemed like every cold turned into an ear infection, in which case she ended up needing antibiotics.

@lawbee11: how old is she?

For a 100* fever i would try a cool bath or wash cloth on the forehead to see if it helped.

Anything higher I give Motrin. (C is 2)

I used Baby Vicks on LOs feet under socks/pjs when she had her first cold. That plus a humidifier worked pretty well.

Tylenol when it is over 101

I didn't hesitate. We got a cold at the same time and mine had a sore throat, so I gave tylenol to see if it would help with any pain. She slept much better afterwards.

I give it if nothing else seems to make her feel better- so we sooth her, rock her, feed her, and she is still screaming, we give it. If I have a way to help her discomfort I'll do it. We've only done it a handful of times but it helps. Poor M, I hope she feels better soon!

@lawbee11: YES-- if the boob doesn't fix it, she must be in pain and need the Tylenol. Poor kid! C is congested but she can still nurse at least.
