I do! Especially since we can put R down and don't have to worry about getting home before bedtime.
Plus we have a huge deck that is made for big gatherings.

Yes! Unfortunately a lot of people we know feel we're "too far" and don't really make an effort, so we don't entertain as much as I'd like to.

Love it, prefer it!
@Smurfette: That is the best part of having people over! I can put L to bed at 7 and then get to actually socialize and not have to worry about a fussy baby!
Also, it forces me to clean. I love having a clean house... even if it is only for 30 minutes

I MUCH prefer to host.
@Smurfette: If I had your deck I would refuse to ever go to anyone else's house for parties and insist they come to my house.

@swurlygurl: It always cost us more but DH and I feel like it is totally worth it.

Definitely! I hate having to clean, but I definitely prefer hosting people than the other way around! It's just so much easier, especially with a toddler!

It depends. Sometimes I'd much rather go somewhere else and not have to deal with all the prep and clean up, but most of the time I am happy to host. DH loves to have people over so we end up doing it a lot!

Yep
I love hosting! I don't mind cooking/cleaning and I love that we don't have to drive home after!

Yep! I don't love the cleaning blitz that's always necessary before people come, but I like the results...and, like others said, it's great to socialize without worrying about DD's bedtime.

I haven't hosted anything but small family events since LO's first birthday! It stresses me out, but I like hosting because I think it gives people a better idea of who you are when they see you at home/ in your element.
@MamaMoose: You have an awesome set up, for sure, @Smurfette:!

I much prefer to host, I have more control over the food, the activities, the time. Plus, we have a pool, sandbox and a play structure, there's no other place in town that has all that PLUS a private bathroom!

I love hosting! @snowjewelz: Ditto on the cleaning. Fortunatly, hubby is great about getting the place looking good before the party. After is a whole other story... Thankfully, friends will at least help clean the dishes and stuff!

So long as it's not an insane amount of people, I like hosting! Like, having friends over or our parents and siblings (and their families) is fun and it's so convenient since all of L's stuff is here and the party doesn't have to end at bed time. But for holidays when you throw in my grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins...that gets to be too much for me, especially since many of my extended family members have a habit of arriving early and staying late, and in general just way overstaying their welcome.

Generally I love hosting and having people over but when I'm pregnant I don't have the energy for it unless it's just a small group of friends

I used to love it, but I'm a bit burned out on it at the moment, so I prefer to be a guest than a host these days! Looks like I'm the only one though, I'll come to all y'alls houses, I'll even bring choc chip cookie s'mores

We just bought a new house so we haven't had anyone over yet but we're definitely looking forward to it!

I would love it if my place was more accommodating to guests. We live in a small one bedroom apartment right now with a 60lb dog. We have people who come from out of town stay with us sometimes, but it's always too cramped. I can't wait until we live somewhere larger!

Nope...I have a weird thing about having people over. I prefer to meet up somewhere.

I do, but the prep is always stressful. We're having friends over for dinner and I'm on my own for cleaning and cooking because DH is tied up at work. With two LOs it could be interesting. Everything but the main dish is low prep to help.

@TheReelDeal: I was thinking I was the only one! I really don't like having people over or hosting events. It stresses me out to feel like the house needs to be presentable, I need to come up with food/beverages, I need to be "on" as the hostess the whole time, and then I have to clean up afterward. I would MUCH rather go somewhere else, bring one dish/beverage, and be able to bow out whenever I want and go home. When I'm feeling "over it" when I'm hosting something, I can't just kick people out so I can be alone!

I love hostessing and throwing parties. I love coming up with a menu and finding a few special touches for guests, like fun straws or bubbles for the kids. I like hostessing also because it forces me to clean, I can be more in control of things, and I don't have to feel awkward talking to someone when we have run out of things to say because there is always something for me to do, like get them a refill.

Yes! I love having people over. @Adira: I use hosting as an excuse to make me clean. It's a good motivator

@namaste: Oh definitely! I LOVE how clean my house gets when I'm going to host a party!!

@IRunForFun: I'm with you. I get so stressed! We still have a lot to do reno wise to get our house to where we want it to be, so in my mind it's never as presentable as I want.

love it even in our small place! we have a patio that we utilize and that means our house gets crazy cleaned.
