I usually do, but it happens like this:
1. They knock or ring the bell, and my 100lb dog proceeds to go nuts barking and jumping up against the door
2. I open our big door, but leave the glass/screen door shut. I also make a show of holding my (usually still barking/growling) dog by her collar and telling her to sit/stay.
3. I ask them if I can help them through the glass/screen, making it pretty clear that they aren't welcome
4. They bumble through whatever speech they are giving, I say no thanks, and they take off with no pushing or lingering.

nope. no one comes to our door aside from family or friends, though - we're above street level, with a fenced in yard and a "beware of dog" sign. my ILs have a loud dog, as do we, so I don't think anyone would go out of their way to come up. haha.

Nope, not unless I am expecting someone or know the person. I don't care if they know I am home because I just ignore them.
