For almost a week now, DD2 has had an angry cry anytime she was awake, and sometimes when she was asleep. She had been spitting up a lot as well. I assumed it was colic because DD1 had it, but decided to take her in just to be sure. As soon as the pediatrician heard her cry, he said "that's not normal - I'm surprised you waited this long..." (he really did mean it in a nice way). He wanted to send her to ER at first, but after taking almost an hour looking at her, he decided to send us to a pediatric GI surgeon because he thinks her rectum is too tight to properly allow her poop, so she's in a lot of pain. All the grunting and pushing is giving her reflux, too.
I'm a mess - I feel awful for her and the fact that I've been so frustrated with her for crying so much. The only comfortable position is to lay on my chest, but I have been limiting it up to now because I was afraid it was starting a bad habit... Now I don't want to let her go.
This might be TMI...
From what I understand, she probably won't need surgery, but we'll have to put something in her rectum several times a day to help open it up. This will continue until it can function on its own... But I have no idea if that's days, weeks or months. The thought of that breaks my heart to know she'll be uncomfortable.
