Wondering how you would handle this situation.
I went on a girls trip the other weekend and carpooled with a friend of mine. When I went to her place to pick her up, I was hanging out with her son while she was finishing getting ready. Her husband came downstairs not realizing that I was there and said something to the effect of "when Mommy Fingers gets here, tell her she still owes us a wedding gift". He then saw me and it got really quiet. Naturally I was mortified and started wracking my brain as I swore I sent them one but maybe I didn't? I asked her about it in the car and she said not to worry about it as he was still drunk from the night before and was being a jerk all morning. But honestly, what if I didn't? This was right around the time I had my 2nd so it would be entirely possible that I forgot to send them my usual present, which is cash. Now I'm not sure how to handle it.
As for some extra context: I've known her for about 20 years but we aren't super close. She got married about 5 years ago. It was her 2nd wedding and his first. I never really liked the guy but that has nothing to do with this situation. They are very well off so they want for nothing so I can't even think of a good gift that could send to them, even if that's what I should do because the normal cash gift seems wrong at this point
