This might be a silly FTM question, but I want to get the Naturepedic changing pad, and I can't decide between the 2 sided and 4 sided one. Is there a benefit to the 4 sided? I figured the 4 sided might be harder to find a cover to fit over it nicely. Is baby more secure on a 4 sided pad? What kind do you have?

My change-pad tip is to have the strap attatched to the change table rather than just the pad. My friend's baby rolled off the change table, pad and all, while strapped-in.

I have the generic 2-sided one (cost about $35) and it seems to be holding up really well.

I have a 4-sided one and our cover fits it just fine - it wasn't specifically made for a 4-sided pad. My son is a week shy of 5 months now and honestly I don't feel like there is really an advantage to the 4-sided changing pad. If I were to do it again, I would save the extra cash and just get a 2-sided one.

we have the 3-sided sealy organic from BRU and a 2-sided munchkin from amazon (2 changing tables) and the same cover (circo at target with polka dots?) fits on both.

I would go for the two sided. The baby is never going to be left unattended on the changing pad so it's not like you're depending on those sides to keep the baby contained. I would worry with the 4 sides that if I had a particularly tall child (a real possibility for me since my husband is 6'6") that it would be much more uncomfortable to lay him/her down as he/she grew.

If I were you i'd do the 2 sides because you never know how long/tall your baby will get in the future.
Regarding the changing pad....I haven't had a problem with any. We got 2. The first one is Summers and the other one is a plain one from BRU. -
We have a 2 sided and I, for the same reason as @MamaMoose , would be concerned that a 4 side would be uncomfortable as baby’s legs grow.

Thanks everyone! I think I'll go with the 2 sided. Now the real question is whether I actually need a $100 changing pad.... lol I can see my DH's face cringing already.

@cvbee: agreed! I/d go for the 2 sided (or non contour)--the 4 sided one is easier to outgrow...
