Say you will be on vacation / traveling right before Christmas, something like 20-24, you will be traveling back home for Christmas and probably arrive in the afternoon/ evening. You have kids and you always do live trees. Will you skip the tree completely this year, or will you still buy a tree?

You’ll only be gone for four days. I would absolutely put up a tree. We won’t even be here for Christmas, we leave on the 22nd and don’t get back until the 27th, but the tree is already up and decorated. The tree isn’t just for Christmas day, it’s part of the whole tradition, decorating it, turning on the lights as it gets dark, etc.

We are leaving for a trip Dec 23-29 and we just bought our real tree today. It's a huge part of building the Christmas spirit to decorate the house IMO. We will also be doing our nuclear family Christmas once we get back. Santa will visit while we are gone (Thanks Grandma!) and the presents will be waiting for the kids.
ETA: Usually by that late in the season our trees have stopped taking in water, so I'm not really worried about needing someone to water it while we're gone.

The only year I skipped putting it up, I was gone a full two weeks and it just didn’t seem worth it

We put ours up and will be away the 16-24!
Last year we weee away over Christmas and still had one up.

I’m the opposite of everyone else here - we will be away (21-26 December) so no decorations or trees this year for us. But that being said, DH and I are trying for our first hold. If I had kids, I would absolutely put up a tree so I voted yes.
The magic of Christmas, for me is about faith. But the tree, decorations, presents and baking is about family traditions. And those are so important to me, that if I had kids I’d definitely put up a tree and decorate. I am torn about doing not doing it this year because I love the tree - I am an early riser and love to turn the tree lights on and have my cup of coffee looking at it and thinking about the memories.
So I say make the mess and put up the tree and decorations. I think you’d be glad you did.

Tree absolutely. It goes up for all of December for us so even when we’re away for a week, we still get to enjoy it on the other days.

We usually travel to spend Christmas week with family, but we still put our tree up for the entire rest of the month. We celebrate at home before we leave, and our own tree is just such a part of our family tradition. Worth it!

We will be traveling for Christmas and will put up a bright pink 6ft artificial tree we already own. We will still visit a tree farm for the experience.

Tree! You'll be there on Christmas so that would be such a bummer at least for my kids to come home and have no tree on the actual day of!
You could even do a mini one, we did a 3 ft one year because we didn't want to deal with too much hassle.. although our dd was newly two then and didn't mind at all. Now it's more fun with a bigger tree.

we just got back in town last night and I am beat! Was going to see if I can get out of the hassle (we usually get it right after thanksgiving and have the remainder of the long weekend to decorate, but we don’t have that this year) Good to hear the mostly 99.9% of yes and that helps give me a much needed push !
