It can be hard to know what your baby will like (or what you will prefer) so you may actually want to get a couple. We used the Halo swaddles from birth until she could roll over. We never tried the woombie but it looks like a cool idea. The only complaint I had about the Halo swaddles were that they were velcro, so they were noisy to open up at night.

I also tried to use A&A swaddles but I was pretty bad at swaddling and the Halos were just so much easier. The A&As still definitely ended up being worth it though. We used them as nursing covers or a cover for the stroller/carseat, and once she turned 1, she started using them as light blankets. She's almost 3 now and still sleeps with them.

I started with the a&a swaddle blankets but by about 2 months he could break out, so we moved to the miracle blanket swaddle (still used the a&a's for sun shades, etc.) then when he started turning over, we started weaning off the swaddle into the sleep sack using the woombie.

SO, I think you should get all 3, but maybe in different sizes.

@stiletto_mom: LO was always able to break out of the A&A swaddle, but they are still super useful for so many other things. For LO # 2 we plan to get a wombie

I don't have the A&A swaddle but i do have swaddle blankets and they are great. I used them to swaddle and now just regular blankets now that they don't need to be swaddled.

As for the woobie, they have a bunch of sizes, so it's not only for newborn. I actually liked the woobie. My babies liked it, too.

As for the halo, halo makes A LOT of sleepsacks, swaddles and a bunch of other things related to sleep. Not sure which one you have on your registry. There's the one that are swaddles (hands in) and the one with holes so they can put their hands out.

My babies are almost 10 months and I have used these during the swaddle phase (0-4/5 months)...

Once they started rolling over (5 months to 7 months ish), I switched them to Merlin's sleep suit and then the zipadeezip. The Zipadeezip helped my son not scratch his face up.

Once they were older and could pull themselves up it the crib, they preferred their hands out and now I use the sleep sacks at 10 months.

Oh, it depends on the climate, too. We stopped using the zipadeezip because it was summer and our house does not have AC so we had to use fans during the heat waves.

Oh, merlin's sleep sac and zipadeezip are pricey new, but I bought them used and I plan to sell them soon.

In general I think you're on the right track, except we strongly preferred the Miracle Blanket instead of the Halo. Miracle Blanket was the only thing that worked for her after she (very quickly) started busting her arm up through the neckhole of the Woombie. We never got in the habit of putting her in sleep sacks - she was very easily able to get her arms out of the Halo.

I held off on buying Woombie-like infant swaddlers due to an increased SIDS risk. My hospital only blanket swaddled from the chest down, again because of SIDS. Even without the safety risk my LO would fuss for free movement of his arms and hands and when wrapped too tight he wanted his legs freer too. The A&A blankets were too large for us to continue the chest down swaddlinf at home the right way. They have been great to have handy though. We just have two sets: I prefer the feel and drape of the softer bamboo ones, but the muslin ones have the cooler patterns.
