On their hand?
Did you have it removed? Did it grow? Did it go away?

My husband had one on his wrist (back of his hand). He did have it surgically removed and it hasn't ever come back.
That was a good 7-ish years ago.

yes, I have one on my hand at the base of one of my fingers. I told my doctor at my physical about two years ago and she told me it would go away on its own. It's still there, it didn't grow or anything. It doesn't bother me so I've left it.

I had one for three years and then one day it was gone. It used to freak me out and I was convinced I'd have to have hand surgery and something would go terribly wrong. But I never needed surgery and it went away.

I have dorsal ganglions on both wrists, ever since high school. They are from being on the crew team. They come and go, and sometimes hurt really bad. I don't have very good movement in my wrists, and supporting my weight on them, like during push ups, is very painful.

I had one on my finger that bothered me when i carried things or held the poll on the subway. I had it aspirated, but they had to do a MRI first to make sure it wasn't near any nerves. It didn't come back, but there was about a 50% chance it would. It was a super simple thing.

I had one, I went to the doctor while I lived in France and no joke he told me to go find the Gypsy camp and have the person there hit it with a coin? Same idea as the book and he was totally serious even though I laughed.
At any rate, it never bothered me or grew and then I fell snowboarding and it went away and never came back.

My friend has one and I believe has had the book treatment...the doctor did say to do it. I think you can also get the fluid drained sometimes. She was recently told that she would need surgery to have it removed if she didn't want it to come back, but then she got pregnant and couldn't have the surgery.

I had one my ankle as a kid. I required surgery and a cast after stitches unfortunately. It was complicated because of its location and it was vascular and affected nerves. Apparently it was an anomaly though and very uncommon.

I've never had one, but a lot of my pediatric patients do and we don't do any surgery unless it's painful, limits function/movement, or just generally really bothers them. Otherwise, they usually go away on their own.

Thanks everyone!! The dr said they used to recommend the book thing but that I shouldn't do it. Some days it bothers me but for the most part it just looks gross. She told me there was no chance it would become cancerous. I'm hoping one day in my clumsy manner I bonk it and it goes away

YES! I called it my 'shopping injury' because it appeared after some serious holiday shopping and carrying heavy bags awkwardly one year.
It did finally disappear on it's own.

@babycanuck: I had one on my right wrist for years. I would occasionally hit it on something accidentally (which was incredibly painful), it would go away and then always come back. It started to hurt and really limit my mobility in my wrist so I had it surgically removed. Two years later I developed one on my left wrist and when that one started be painful I had that one removed as well.
I know that the recurrence rate after surgery is significant, but I haven't had any issues.

I had one and they did some sort of ultrasound therapy on it. It bugs be every now and then, but nothing that would make my want the surgery.

I have on on my wrist. It's been there for as long as I can remember. It doesn't hurt or bother me, so I've never seen a reason to have it removed.
