DD leans over the edge and tries to reach the side buckles, so I don't particularly like the bumbo. I have to get her attention and get her to sit up if I'm trying to feed her.
I'm not a fan.

My son didn't like it until he could really fit in it comfortably! I'd say when he was four months he started to like it.

We weren't fans, she never looked comfortable and started squawking a minute or so after being put in. Occupational therapists and physical therapists aren't big fans either so it was easy to just ditch it for us.

@Cole: Yeah, I don't think I started using it until they were almost sitting unassisted. Honestly, I forgot I had it. So it wasn't intentional... but I did know about ergonomic issues with using the seat.

@bluestriped bee: I definitely don't think the ergonomics are the end of the world, it was just a good tipping point for me to shove it back in the basement! I don't think most people are using it for extended periods.

I really liked the idea of the Bumpo, and my cousin gifted me one because she loved it for all 3 of her kids. My LO had such chunky thighs he didn't even fit, and by the time he did, he could sit well enough on his own.

@Cole: We never used it for the same reasons. Two close friends who are PT urged us strongly against it.

DD's legs were too chubby for it after 6 months old (when she was wearing size 12 month clothing), so it was pretty useless to me... I saved it for LO2 just in case she isn't enormous.

My kids have fast thighs and don't fit in it. They all sat independently really early so it was completely useless.

We didn't use it a ton but I loved it for day trips to visit friends. I used it with the tray attachment and I could feed her meals easily when there wasn't a high chair available. We've had friends frequently use it when we have a group over for meals and a little one needs a seat but the high chair is in use

Someone gave me one with my first and we used it a handful of times. I forgot I had it in the garage with my second, so I just donated it. Glad I didn't actually buy it!

We never had an actual Bumbo. We had something similar called a Super Seat, and that didn't really get used until he could sit up pretty well. And he'd only tolerate it for a few minutes at time anyways, just like any other baby container we had.

Don't like it at all.
I don't understand feeding in it.... do you sit on the floor? Bumbos should never be used on an elevated surface... and sitting on the floor to feed the baby is a huge pain in the butt. I used it very sparingly before LO could sit independently when I just needed somewhere to put him down quickly and it happened to be the closest option. But I'm going to go ahead and sell ours since its just taking up space at this point.

@bluestriped bee: I tried that a couple times but I was just so uncomfortable, and the baby was always looking down and not really focused. I much preferred the Bjorn Bouncer for feeding (because of the angle) until LO could sit independently in the high chair.

@Truth Bombs: yup, on the floor. I would just put her cut up food on the tray and let her feed herself. I used it a lot the summer where she was 7-9 months and was able to feed herself. Or outside on the deck/grass area.

the thigh chub prevented effective use of the Bumbo for both of my kiddos

@Truth Bombs: @bluestriped bee: We used ours to feed him a few times on the floor, but in retrospect I have no idea why. It might be because where we used to live we mostly ate/sat at our island and the stools were really high compared to the highchair. But with #2 I can't imagine feeding her on the floor in the living room. WTF were we thinking? LOL. I'll just put her in the high chair at the table.

LO was already slightly developmentally behind, so I never felt comfortable using it. Also, chunky thighs!! I didn't register for it, but someone gifted it to me. Now it's just taking up space in the closet.
@sandy: This is actually a good reason to keep one around! We got the Graco high chair with the extra booster seat and that seat has been very nice to have around when having friends with babies/toddlers over for dinner.

@Truth Bombs: I fed DD2 in the Bumbo on the floor until she was big enough to fit in the high chair a bit more comfortably. It was a PITA, but it was the best option with the gear we had (and cleanup was really easy).
I'm indifferent about the Bumbo - other than feeding, we got very little (if any) use out of it.
