We used OH Crap Potty Training at 21 months. That was the earliest age recommended by the author. We day trained fine, but she couldn't seem to get the hang of naps and nights, so we ignored the author's advice to both at once and just called daytime a victory. It was almost a year until we dropped night diapers.
In retrospect, I think we should have waited until 24 months to start. It would have given us more confidence that she could drop nap and night diapers, and it would have been better to do both at once.
But otherwise, it was a success, and although using the potty was more work than diapers initially, it became vastly more convenient within about a month. We hope to potty training the next kid between 23 and 25 months.

I used a type of Elimination Communication and read Diaper Free book. I was inspired and committed, convinced DH and the babysitter. People thought I was nuts I am sure but it worked. Basically it is a one-off story. Peeing on the baby toilet off and on since 4 months. Out of diapers before 1 year. No night accidents. Sleep was not easy until 4 years but she had the potty down! Entered preschool the day she turned 2 and was diaper free. Had to use pull-ups for a week bc of some regression. So glad I trained with little pee instead of big pee. Read the book and let me know what u think.

We did the same as @Hypatia: and did Oh Crap potty training around 21 months. We had a weekend home and she seemed ready so we went for it. We also ignored the part about naptime/bedtime and she wears pull ups at night still. But daytime she had the hang of within a week.

DD was around 19 months and took to it all on her own so I just flowed
She was trained 100% day by 22 months
It was super easy, and I think she just physically and mentally got it

Thank you ladies! I think we'll focus on day time potty training since she's been showing a lot of interest. She's obssessed with watching me go to the bathroom. And we'll go from there.

DD1 was 23 months andDD2 was 21 months (she still has accidents every few days). We didn’t nap or overnight train, and instead waited until she (DD1) woke p dry fairly consistently and then ditched the training pants. I didn’t use a formal plan with either, except to have them naked from the waist down at home and to not wear underwear for at least several weeks.
DD1 I was pretty intentional and planned it all out. We did a treat every time she went on the potty and I did a reward about every 3-4 times (plastic cup, toy car, etc). I feel like she fought going on the potty a lot at first but then I caved and let her watch little baby bum while sitting on it. She definitely still had accidents for a few months and I have no idea what’s considered a normal amount of accidents.
DD2 I hadn’t really thought about when to potty train but I had Christmas week off with no plans so I decided to try as she had consistent awful diaper rashes. I bought M and M’s and the first week she just did it all on her own. I never had to put her on the potty (she would even go and dump it on her own without telling me). Since then she’s definitely had more accidents. She will be great for 4 days and then day 5 she’ll have 2 accidents. She does not like you to put her on the potty at all. If she has accidents I offertreats for potty successes for 2 days after until she gets back on track. If she asks for a treat in response to going on the potty I never deny it. If she has a naked butt she won’t have an accident so I will often leave her naked in the morning until she goes potty. If she is wearing training pants she’ll usually just go in them. I attribute the accidents to us not being as on top of her as we should be (and my mom keeping her in training pants at her house). But again maybe have 2 accidents a week is normal—I just don’t know.
All in all I’d say both times were successful and I have no regrets. DD2 was very low stress.
