DD has this one spot on the side of her face. We thought it was ringworm, but eventually realized it's not and has since flared up on and off. The rest of her skin is totally fine!
And on that note, what should I use on this one spot? Dr said cortisone cream, but it hasn't really helped. We also alternate aquaphor and coconut oil with not much success...

Yes, that's how DD2's started. Now she has a few trouble spots that comes and goes. 
We only bathe every other night, which will be hard with summer coming. I put hydrocortisone 1% on the problem spots and use vanicream all other times. I do the vanicream even on non bath nights.

@regberadaisy: Noooo! How long did it take for it to "spread"?
I feel like the hydrocortisone would work a little bit and the spot would get better, but then it will get worse! It never ends!
And I already avoid that spot when wiping down her face!

@snowjewelz: DS randomly got some eczema and I remember reading on HB about Vanicream so I bought it and the spot was pretty much gone the next day!! I used it for a week just to keep it at bay and it never came back!
So, another vote for Vanicream!

Yup!!! DS1 is 3 now and has only had one trouble spot. It's on his shoulder and has come and gone his whole life using a variety of prescription and OTC creams.
That being said, after reading the many recommendations for Vanicream on hb, we used it ONE time and DS's spot has been gone for months. The stuff is magic!!!

@snowjewelz: I thought the same thing. It's so weird when it doesn't spread or anything. We took him to a dermatologist to make sure that's what it was and they confirmed it. I had no idea before having him that it could be so localized.

Yeah DS had one spot on his back, and that was it. It just came and went for a few months, and then cleared up for good.

Boo, I got vanicream that day and have been applying that with hydrocortisone 1% and it got redder! Ugh.

My LO gets one spot too. He doesn't get it as much now (he is 19 months). What seems to work for him, is the Aveeno baby Excema cream and body wash.
