I just had a set-to with my neighbour over my LO crying for ten minutes. I gave it to him straight, since he's the noisiest person in the world and I have never, ever said anything to him about it before.
It surprised me because I'm not usually a confrontational person and seethe in private. But when it comes to my LO, you better run and hide

Although that's probably not the best, especially with family... ooops.

I haven't had to yet, but have no problem doing so-- I'm a confrontational person in general though.

Ellie had some issues at Harvest Festival and I seriously felt like knocking some heads together (7-year-old ones). Which wasn't the right response. She and I chatted about it, and she asked that Mr. T and I talk with one of the boys' parents. And we did. Some kids ganged up on her while she was minding her own business playing near them (granted, she was closer than she needed to be, but she has a tough time still with understanding personal space). They said she got kicked out of school, was in the office all the time, said she was stupid and called her a retard when she didn't engage back. Then started throwing things at her. She threw something back, but then walked away.

I would love to be, but I get so much anxiety over it. I've already dealt with one "issue" and it was more of a lie my face off to keep the peace than bring any of my actual concerns to the table. I guess I felt like if it was over and I would never have to deal with it again, what's the point in pointing fingers.

It depends on the situation. I will say something if I'm on edge or if someone says something just mean. I will not say something if I'm not interested in the fight or if it's not a big enough issue to fight about.

Yes - not that I search it out but I'm much more likely to say something or bring up subjects I normally wouldn't when it's something that affects LO.
It's caused a bit of problems with family sometimes bc even when they visit our house I'm usually go with the flow and if they want to change things around whatev - I just deal and change it back when they leave. But with LOs I have a lot less tolerance for people showing up and saying OK now we do it my way/ Also having to be very firm, which feels confrontational to me, when our parents want to do something with LO we disagree with (like wanting to use a 35 year old car seat or giving way too much candy).

Oh my gosh, I wish I was more confrontational. I worry that I won't speak up when my child really needs me too. Some lady tried to put her hands on my baby's face the other day -- just being nice and saying how cute she is -- and I should've swatted them away, but she was an older woman and I didn't want to be rude. So I just smiled. Ugh. I worry about this a lot because I feel like my Mom didn't speak up for my brother and I when she should've. Having kids is NOT a time to be mealy-mouthed.

@Mrs. Twine: this breaks my heart, I know I'm overly hormonal right now, but kids can be so mean.
I'm not a confrontational person, but I had no issue pulling the staff aside at a hotel waterpark this weekend when several kids who were between 2-6 (whose parents were no where to be seen as they were bellied up to the bar) were playing rough and out of control around my child. Momma bear had to tell those kids to stop splashing her several times, it's when they were not listening to me that I spoke to the staff.

Ugh I am not. I really should be more so. A couple of times I have been - a lady at the library offered my kid a snack (he has peanut and dairy allergies) and I was not very polite about it. And once he was crying and my mom tried to take him from me. I just said, "no, he's my baby!"
I kind of have a weird in law situation where the family is so used to them being in charge, DH's siblings and extended relatives will literally ask them, not me, if it's okay to hold the baby. My SIL will tell my mil when one of them has a dirty diaper. It annoys me no one defers to me, but that's also probably because I don't make a big deal about things a lot either.

I am a pretty laid back person for the most part but once I am "engaged" so to speak in a stituation watch out!! My husband says that I am firey!!! Lol

@Mrs tartan: It was ridiculous really. Background: This guy is disabled and for some reason has his apartment door open all day and night and his TV on full blast. He has his carer start cooking food then she leaves for the day,the food burns, he can't get up to sort it so the fire alarm goes off and someone else on the floor has to go fix it etc etc.
Today, LO and nanny LO were in the stroller for ten mins while I grabbed them a picnic lunch to take out. They had a little fight and started t cry and the neighbour was yelling "come on" at the noise over and over. If it had been anyone else I would have apologized for our noise but he only heard it because he had his door open, as per usual, and he is so effing loud all the time and I never complain. It was a silly argument really. But they are toddlers, they cry, don't shout at them.

In my head, yes. It's starting to change though. I haven't had many reasons to show my mama claws yet (LO is only 7 months old).

I think it actually takes a lot of strength not to knock heads together/say something. Sometimes I think it's easier for me to bite back, it would be harder to bite my lip. It's all so emotional when it involves LO's, isn't it?

Yes. Especially since my husband is sooooooo nonconfrontational and I take it as he isn't defending us. So I am extra sassy with people. .Say something about me and you are gone. Say something about my baby and, "Oh, do I know you?".
