L is 18 Months and he's only recently started to do things he knows he isn't allowed to do or testing his boundaries.

The other day he put a piece of lego in his mouth and when I dug it out he bit me. I kind of cried out *OW* and he started to sob... haha That's about as naughty as he's been.

Both of mine around 14 to 15 months start throwing tantrums if they dont get their way, wanting independence at not ideal times and really testing limits. 15 months is my witching age. Theyre just little unreasonable people.

Hmm, 20 months? But nothing that redirection couldn't change until now (just over 2.5). Now there is no way to redirect when she's hysterical for a half hour.

I'd say by 18 months she was being defiant on purpose & knew the difference between good/bad yes/no right/wrong on some basic, simple things. That's about when we started doing a one minute time out on the couch.

Thought I also remember her being a little shit around 15 months too. She used to roll out all the toilet paper in the bathroom while I was on the toilet and laugh while I was stuck! So if you're ever at my house & wonder why we have an entire sleeve of toilet paper in the bathroom, that's why!

10 months is when I first heard her do a fake cry. I consider fake crying misbehaving because it's deliberately feigning distress in order to get attention. She's a year old now, and I often say, "No whining," and then ignore her until she stops.

She understands what "no" means, so there are a couple of things that she'll try to touch or get into that I tell her, "No touch" and give her a stern look.

To some degree, I think it's irrelevant whether she truly understands right from wrong or does something deliberately. I approach it from the perspective of training, not discipline. A dog doesn't understand the difference between right and wrong, but a dog can be trained to do all kinds of things through positive and negative conditioning. She might seem young, but she's already much, much smarter than even the smartest dog in the world, so I don't want to underestimate what she's capable of being taught.

Around a year, I felt like she was deliberately testing us or doing things for attention. She's 21 months now and it certainly isn't recent behavior!

I haven't really seen it yet and LO is 18 months. I don't think she knows she's "Disobeying". And her tantrums thus far have been from frustration, not like, not getting her way.
