My house has a stone staircase between the first and second floor, with a thin, round, wrought iron banister. The bottom has a banister on one side and plaster wall on the other. The top has a banister on both sides. Pictures attached. Does anyone have any suggestions on baby gates for this type of set up? A lot of pictures I see for banister installs show thicker wood banisters, so I'm hoping someone here has some insight

We have a thicker wooden banister on the bottom of our stairs but I think our fix should still work for your top photo.
We cut a piece of 1x1 wood the height of the gate and screwed the gate sides to the wood. We then secured the pieces of wood to the banister with zip ties and velro pieces. The gate is secure, even with DS pulling it. I don't have a picture handy but it looks similar to this (although we have the wood on the inside, not the side).

You can buy y shaped pieces for the side of pressure gates, we used to have one like that. I don't think the top is safe that way but you could do it at the bottom of the stairs. I also while looking for that found a kit on Amazon very similar to idea above!

We have thicker wood/metal banisters and still had to use the same trick as @superkate with an attached piece of wood to screw them into. Been pretty secure so far.
Unrelated, what kind of home is that, Tudor? Spanish? Looks beautiful!

Many of my friends have had babyproofers come to their homes. They all basically use this gate. When we move, I def plan to 1- hire someone bc we suuuuck at installation. All of the spackled spots near our stairs can attest to this. And 2- use this mesh retractable style gate
