I am such a mess right now. I've been worried for about a week about how my baby is eating. He has been nursing for a very short period of time and waking up a lot in the night to eat. I thought it might be a supply issue, so I went to investigate further with a lactation consultant. At our visit, baby only took in 3 ounces (after not eating for three hours). We rented a scale from her and determined to monitor what he took in for 24 hrs.

It hasn't been 24 hours yet, but for the entire day, my LO has not had 8 ounces yet. At his last feeding he took 2.4 ounces. My understanding is that babies his age (6 months) eat around 25 ounces or so each day. Another source said feedings should be around 6 to 8 ounces. I am really worried now. I don't think its a supply issue anymore because he just nursed from one side and flat out refused the other even after I offered a few times.

At his last pediatrician visit last week, he weighed 18 pounds and went from the 70th percentile to the 50th percentile. I am so worried now.
