My five month old will not do tummy time. I roll her onto her tummy and she immediately rolls back. I have tried laying with her or providing toys but she just loves rolling back to her back! (She can roll both ways). Is this bad?

My daughter hated tummy time....she would always cry and cry! Maybe try using a mirror on the mat? That seemed to engage my LO a little bit more!

The importance of tummy time is to strengthen the neck muscles...if she can roll, they are already string! I wouldn't worry about it.

Tummy time also strengthens the wrists which is important for fine motor skills. I'd try a mirror, laying baby on bed, couch, table. Even getting a few minutes at a time is beneficial.

You could try having your baby do tummy time on you, lean back on the couch with baby on your belly. Kind of like this photo.

@lady grey: This is what we did a lot. She would just lay on my belly on her belly. Good enough!

I would continue to try, but wouldn't worry too much about it. She's already rolling which is great. My second son hated it too. I tried but didn't force it.

I don't remember even doing tummy time when lo was already rolling! Oops!

I have never done tummy time with either baby.
