Could you tell your baby's position?
Bonus question: if you had a breeched baby - could you tell when he/she was no longer breeched (if this happened)? I have convinced myself that my baby has finally gotten his stuff together and turned head down ... all of my Dr. Googling seems to indicate that I may or may not even be able to tell this. I can still feel him in my ribs, but I feel some lower pressure now that I wasn't feeling prior.

Nope. I never had a clue. The doctor told me she was head down.

Once I knew she was breech, I could tell she continued to be breech - her head would push out near my ribs all the time. I couldn't tell before that point and she never turned.

She was transverse for a long time (legs on the left, head on the right), and I could definitely tell when she flipped to head down. Lots of low pressure, and the kicks were on a different place.

Chloe was breech the entire time. I could feel her head under my right rib cage, and her feet under my left. Her bum was firmly planted in my pelvis.
With Chloe, I felt hiccups up high-- above my belly button. I felt movement low, which was her hands, and felt hard kicks on my left.
This baby was breech until a few weeks ago. I felt her similar to Chloe and confirmed by checking her heartbeat. At 27w, her HB was well above my belly button. I felt her flip about a week later, and it was the oddest feeling. Almost kind of painful!
At my 32w appointment, my OB could feel her head down. Her heartbeat was low, well under my belly button. I can feel her body now & have a pretty good guess at to where she's lying.
If you lay down, you can feel your belly and get an idea of her position. I can feel a round, hard ball deep in my pelvis. It's her head! A larger, squishier ball is up high, her butt!, and if I poke her bum her whole body will wiggle. If I poke her head, just her head bobs.
I can also feel the curve of her back.

@Mrs. Oatmeal: When did she flip? I think he's sort of transverse breech? His butt is sitting on my hip, his head is in my ribs, and his legs are stretched to the other side. Sort of like he's sitting in a baby pool recliner in there?!

LOL at baby pool recliner! My baby is breech also and I can tell he hasn't moved since my last ultrasound (28weeks) because he feels exactly the same (33 weeks)! His head is hard and right at my belly button and then I feel arm pokes on either side, and the occasional kick on my cervix/bladder/I have no idea. I keep doubting myself, thinking, well maybe that's a butt, but he's not a big mover and he still feels exactly the same as he has for weeks...so I doubt it?

I had no idea, just knew I had a ton of pressure down there. It wasn't until my 32 or 35 week ultrasound that we knew for sure he was heads down. My OB had a feeling he was, but didn't want to say for sure until the ultrasound.

@BakerBee: haha at recliner- so funny. I think she was firmly head down by....32 weeks? Maybe 30? Late enough that I started to get a little worried, but early enough that we still had time to try and flip her.

I could kind of guess that he was head down. I felt hiccups very low and what I guessed was his butt up in my ribs. It was hard to be certain until it was confirmed for me by my midwife.

Yep! The last few weeks I could feel where her butt was and follow her back all the way down my stomach!

Our babe was breech and just flipped 2 weeks ago at 32 weeks. They couldn't tell me for sure at my 31 week appointment, but suddenly I felt pressure on my bladder even AFTER using the bathroom (bathroom trips increased a lot too) and butt/feet in my right ribcage, so I was pretty convinced. At 33 weeks doc confirmed she was head down and I have been feeling hiccups down there ever since

When I went to my 35 week appt my OB confirmed that he had flipped. I felt a really big movement one day and then like @gilmoregirl: I felt hiccups low and what felt like a baby bottom in my ribs.

I thought my baby was head down, with her butt on my right side, and her feet poking out my left side. I was correct according to my doctor.

At every ultrasound they commented that his head was very low so I knew that part for sure, and for the last few months I could feel his little feet always on one side. I could also feel what I thought was his butt sticking out near my belly button and an u/s tech confirmed when she rubbed the wand over it that he had a bony little butt.

My DS was breech and never ended up turning (frank breech)
What's weird is I never felt his head in my ribs.. Ever. But I also have a long torso so I don't know if that's why. He didn't really move a lot either, probably because of his position and the fact he had no room at all.

Also, the whole time I thought his little butt was popping out below my ribs, but it was really his head the whole time!
