You could sit in the tub with him? I once gave LO a bath in my SIL's jacuzzi tub and it was hard! I ended up getting all wet I wish I just got in the tub.

And I don't mean you need to be bathing too, you could wear shorts and just stand/squat in the tub with him? And if you have a detachable sprayer that might be helpful too?

I echo the laundry basket. That's what we did for awhile. (Now he wants to chase toys and splash too much to be confined.)

We have the same situation with deep tubs as the only option. When my son was that age we were struggling with him sliding in the tub when he sat and trying to stand up. We ended up getting a bath seat that suctioned to the bottom and kept him in place-he loved it. Since we knew we would never be out of sight while in the seat/bath we weren't concerned about the seats safety, and we figured it was safer than him standing in the tub and falling down. Now that he's bigger and likes to move around in the tub we just make sure we have a bath mat securely attached to the bottom. One trick that has helped with him sliding is (he likes the running water) we leave the drain open and water partially running once he's had a quick soak. That gives us a chance to soap him up and get him rinsed (we use a little bowl). If all else fails, we throw on shorts and stand in the tub with him. Hope this helps!
