Would you go?
Or should I plan the weekend after Labor Day? Oh, wait, school might start around that time.
I think it would be easy for family to attend but our friends and their kids might not go.
I'm only ahead of the game because I'm looking at my summer calendar and realizing September will be here before I know it.

It depends on the holiday. Some people have standing plans. If I were in town I would go- but we will be out of town every holiday this year except Fathers Day.

I would be happy to go since we usually don't travel for holiday weekends (the traffic!) but since so many people do, we don't usually have any plans. But you have to accept that a lot of people would have plans already.

I would go!
I grew up with a holiday birthday, and it never seemed to be an issue. I think the only holidays that would pose a problem would be Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I would expect a lot of people to be off on weekend trips on Labor Day weekend.

My good friend throws her son a birthday party every Memorial Day weekend and I can never go!

We've had a birthday party for DS the past two Labor Day weekends and will probably do it again this year. (His birthday is 9/3.) The grandparents aren't local so it makes it easy for them to travel, and last year only one family with kids we invited was away for the weekend. Schools in our area start before Labor Day, though.

We had a weekday party a few days after labor day and pretty much everyone came. But I SAH as do almost all our friends and grandparents are retired and schools start later here. I know several of our friends would not have been able to make it if we held it over the holiday weekend. I'd say wait a week or do it on a weekday.

I do parties when they work for us and I know the most important people can attend. Outside of that, whoever can come will come.

We usually (like almost always) go to out of town for Labor Day, but if it was a good friend we would stay or rearrange our travel schedule to make it work. I think as your child gets older this might not work as well, but for the first few years when it's mostly just your friends anyways it's NBD.

I never go out of town for memorial or labor day (I used to, but those were the years when I had a shore house share and it was opening and closing weekends). WIth school starting the last week in August, it's pushed summer to end earlier.

I would go if in town.
DS has a holiday birthday (Labor Day), we had a great turnout for his 1st birthday, but did it the weekend before Labor Day for his 4th and it was a really small crowd.

My birthday is around Labor Day and I always had to celebrate a week later because everyone always goes out of town.

DD1's classmate is having her bday party on Sat 7/1 and we're going since we're not going anywhere.

DD's birthday is Labour Day weekend and everyone was available. Send out invites early, see what happens and adjust for next year, if necessary.

I think you'd run into people going out of town on trips depending on the holiday. I'd do it another weekend.

If I were available I would go. Both my girls birthday are around holidays and I wouldn't move their party to accommodate a holiday. Honestly, I prefer smaller parties so if people can't make it I really don't mind.
