DS needs an upgrade from his convertible seat. I was looking at the Parkway and just realized it doesn't have a harness. He will be 5 in a few months and is 49 lbs and 40+ inches.
I read this (http://csftl.org/recommended-seats/), but still can't decide. Looking for real experience with the seats.

The height limits are now the same for both seats but the frontier has higher weight limits in both harness and booster mode. In harness it's 90 pounds for the frontier and 70 pounds for the pioneer. In booster mode it is 120 vs. 110. The vast majority of kids will outgrow both seats by height first anyway. The frontier does have the clicktight installation though... Really you can't go wrong with either.

We bought the Frontier because of the higher weight limits. DS is almost 5 and already 50lbs and I knew I wanted him to stay in the harness for as long as possible.

We have both, I much perfer the click tight installation of the Frontier (mid range) but it does make the seat much heavier.
ETA - If you're looking to save money you are fine either way. DH doesn't mind the install of the Pioneer

I went back and forth for a long time but got the frontier for the easy installation. Click tight really is amazingly easy (although somehow DH still manages to do it too loose). We only have one set of car seats but sometimes move them to DH's car so I wanted something easy to install. It's heavy though.
ETA: the higher weight limit didn't factor in for me because both my kids are pretty small so I don't see it being an issue for us, ever.

Love, love, love the Frontier because of ClickTight. It's worth the price premium IMO.

@Mrs. Yoyo: @Foodnerd81: @T.H.O.U.: @bushelandapeck: @catgirl: thanks ladies! I *think* I'm going to go with the Frontier Clicktight. Both kids have the Marathon now and clicktight came out shortly after I got both convertibles. I watched a YouTube video on it and it does seem super easy.
This seat would rarely be moved--in the 3rd row of my SUV so hopefully I rarely deal with the weight issue. Are any of your kids able to buckle/unbuckle themselves? That is what I am kind of wanting since it will be hard for me to get to the 3rd row.
I also need to compare prices, but with the baby sale going on at Target right now it qualifies for a $50 gift card. And since I need a new infant seat too...that might make it worth all the while.

@matador84: My son can buckle himself. He sits behind the passenger seat so sometimes I turn around and help him tighten the straps if needed, but otherwise he does the rest himself. Which SUV did you decide on? We are upgrading my Outback and still undecided about which SUV to go with.

@bushelandapeck: Pilot! I absolutely love it. I totally loved my Outback sooo much, but it was like driving around in a clown car with the whole family and attempting 3 car seats in the back would have been foolish.
We ended up finding a great deal on a used Pilot, it's only a 2014 but a Touring edition and has the bench seat in the middle. I didn't like the Captain's chairs in the new ones, although I know there are many people who do!

@matador84: awesome! We looked at the Pilot and I still feel like it *might* be too small because we also have a 75lb lab. I am going to take another look at the Touring before we decide for sure though. Thanks!

@bushelandapeck: Yes, you are probably looking for something bigger! With the 3rd row down there is plenty of trunk space, but once it is up, it shrinks considerably. I originally wanted the Honda Odyssey sooo bad because I was turned off by the trunk space in the Pilot, but I am really happy I went with the Pilot nonetheless.

@mediagirl: lol. That's a funny image! Our lab is getting up there in age (13 in Oct) and sheds a ton, so I want to keep her in the back of any vehicle we buy. She's great in our Outback but I think we need a legitimate 3rd row option with another baby on the way. We are looking into large SUV's instead.

@matador84: my girl is about to turn four and cannot buckler herself. She does the cheat clip but I do the crotch buckle and tighten it. I don't really want her to or to unbuckle herself because I don't trust her not to while we are driving once she learns. But I think she is younger than your oldest.

@Foodnerd81: Yes, I totally understand. I think a year ago I definitely would have not trusted him, but now I am pretty certain he won't unbuckle unless I tell him to. I just know the bottom clip on his Marathon is super hard to unbuckle so he wouldn't have the strength to do it anyway. I just can't really climb into the backseat every time I need him to get out.

@matador84: I think the bottom is similar to the other britax seats. To be honest, my almost 6 year old still asks for us to un buckle her even though she can do it herself.
On Amazon they do make a rubber thing that helps kids push to unbuckle. You have to trust they would only do it to get out of the car obviously but its a great way to keep them in a harness longer with less hassle.

@matador84: if he can do the chest clip by himself you could look in to a bucklebopper for unbuckling the crotch buckle. You could hand it back to him whenever he needs it.

@T.H.O.U.: Super! It must be the thing the poster below posted about. I assumed it would be the same for safety but kind of hoped it wouldn't. I think we are going to make a trip to BRU tomorrow so I can see the seat in person but buy from Target online since they are having the baby sale with a gift card.

So....I did lots of price comparing and I got a 20% off BBB coupon this morning. I didn't think I could stack it since the Britax Frontier Clicktight was already on sale, but it let me, so I was able to get free shipping plus the seat for $245, which was about the best I could find!
