If you are still using a changing table and it's one that the kids can climb, what happened to it when your kid transitioned out of the crib?
I don't really want them climbing it. Especially
Did you move the changing table out of the room?
Did you stop using the changing table?
Did you child proof it to prevent climbing? (If so, how?)
Is there another idea I'm not thinking of?
We aren't close to potty training.

I had to empty R's room of everything she could climb once I put her in a toddler bed.

We put the change pad on the floor when DS got strong enough to flail around and it became dangerous for him to be at a height. Is it an option for you to do the same and just have a diaper caddy or something that you grab from a closet or high shelf when it's change time?

Our change table is just my dresser from when I was a child and I want to keep it in there so we bought furniture straps off amazon and bolted it to the studs.

My kid climbs onto the change table regularly. We have a pbk anywhere chair next to it so she climbs right back down again. It's actually great now...I'm 6 months preg and I often don't have to lift her to change her.
She's fallen off once climbing on her own..but in the vein of natural consequences, she hasn't fallen again.
It is the IKEA 2x4 open shelf bookshelf. The kallax I think.

Interesting, hadn't thought of this! Our changing table has a large surface - 4 ft long, 3 ft deep. It won't fit anywhere else and my ILs who babysit can't easily bend low or kneel change LO, and there will be another LO hopefully in February so we need to keep it around anyway. So I guess we just anchor it down and hope that he doesn't climb + jump off! It's only 3 ft tall and there's good carpeting, so I don't think it would be horrible at this point, but definitely not desirable.

@muffinsmuffins: @mrsbubbletea: ours is my dresser from when I was young too! It's so heavy that I wasn't really worried about her climbing it and it's never been a problem. Basically once she was out of the crying she wanted to come out and see us, not explore in her own room. We had the bed next to the crib and she did climb in and out of the crib to the bed though. Not exactly what I wanted but not too dangerous either.

@Mrs. Pickle: Ohhh, empty the room. Yeah, we ended up having to baby proof the room for curious toddlers.
@kitty: We ended up just moving the changing table and diapering supplies to the guest bedroom.
