I've been using flocked/velvet hangers for years but lately I've been realizing I kind of hate them. Yes clothes don't slip but for the same reason it's fussy and time consuming to hang clothes up and adjust until they sit right. I am pretty sure it's part of the reason I procrastinate putting away the laundry.
Can anyone recommend an alternative? Like a very slim and smooth wooden hanger? Or do I have to resort back to ugly plastic ones?

I hate the velvet coated hangers - mostly because I felt they were cheaply made and the hook part kept breaking off.
I switched to theses hangers a few years ago and have been pleased:

They are sturdy, but have rubber in places to keep things from falling off the hanger.

I have wooden hangers from Amazon Basics and love them (and love how they look in my closet).

I've recently been using white plastic hangers from Ikea. I think they come in black also. They are really slim, and so far I like them. I hated the velvet hangers and was looking for something slim. The wooden ones are bulkier so I just went with the plastic ones.

@Bluebonnet: we use hangers like this also, and I like how they perform. They certainly aren't as visually pleasing as wooden hangers, but they are much less irritating than the velvet ones.
