So baby is due January 30th - middle of winter in Northeastern Pennsylvania! LO was a summer baby, so now that I'm trying to figure out what to pack for the hospital, I'm racking my brain about how to dress this baby so she doesn't become a Popsicle! What all am I going to need that I may be forgetting?
So far, I was thinking something like this outfit with a fleece jumpsuit (will that even be car seat friendly? Will she roast? Is this the first time I've ever done this?) D:

We just did a fleece sleeper. Simple and easy, loaded up blankets on top of the car seat, and preheated the car until it was good and warm before we put him in.

I also just did fleece footed sleepers with both my girls...there were some adorable outfits out there but i find it really hard to know what to do with their feet when they are newborn..socks don't really fit right and they are too small for booties/shoes...so footed sleepers are definitely the easiest at this stage!

jj cole has that fleece liner you can put in the car seat also! seems safer to me.

Either of those would be adorable. I did a cable knit romper, socks and hat for DD1 and a Janie and Jack velour one-piece footie with hat for DD2. Add blankets as needed while in transit.

@ZombieBullfrogHoller: DS was born at the end of January and we brought him home on the coldest day that year in central pa. It was 10 below! I just put him in a fleece sleeper and piled on the blankets. Plus the valets let my husband leave the car running out front for like 20 min till he came and got us. A fleece outfit and a fleece coverup is probably too bulky for the car seat and too hot once the car is warm...
ETA: and a hat, of course. Oh, and it sounds nuts but you might want to pack shorts or layers for you and your husband - the hospital room was super warm on occasion, even in the dead of winter. (My daughter was born in the middle of feb)

@ZombieBullfrogHoller: you just need one! I'd stick with a one piece deal for the floppy newborn. My experience with things with an attached hood is that they look super cute, but they get in the way. I'd find a sleeper with a zipper for ease and warmth.

Fleece sleeper here! Baby #2 - I might've been more apt to find a winter outfit for baby #1 (she was sept and wore a sweatshirt outfit) because I was way more obsessed with details then. Lol. The sleeper was adorable though, and cozy! Jan 13, in NE

Also - avoid the bundlemes that go between baby and seat and opt for a shower cap style

@ZombieBullfrogHoller: love the fleece sleeper! we are due in mid-november so not quite as cold, but we only packed a cotton onesie. it's just a 15 minute car ride home so i figured that would be ok with a blanket over the top of the car seat!
eta: it's this one but we personalized with his name and got it in green

She won't roast - they say to put baby in one more later than you would need. But as PP said, I'd recommend something one piece and with feet. It's really much easier!

That first outfit is flipping adorable!! Where's it from? I'm on the search for a going home outfit for DD as well. She'll be a March baby, but it's still pretty cool around here during that time.

DD was born in Dec in the NE, we just did fleece sleeper and tucker her into carseat with a thick fleece blanket.
