I am very early in my second pregnancy (yay!). I seem to recall I transitioned to maternity jeans around the beginning of the second trimester last time (14/15 weeks), but I have heard that second pregnancies show a lot sooner. Was this true for you? When did you start wearing maternity clothes in your second semester, compared to you first?

I needed maternity bottoms about 5 weeks earlier with LO2. With LO1, I had to switch around 23 weeks. With LO2, it was more like 18 weeks.

Way sooner. But my maternity clothes from last time took a while to fit because I had lost weight between pregnancies, plus I am having opposite season babies.
But yeah, regular clothes didn't fit by 8 weeks, even though maternity clothes didn't fit either. Thank goodness for stretchy clothes.

I switched to maternity by 13ish weeks with my 1st but by 8 weeks with my 2nd. And I was showing before that.

7-8 weeks. I just could not get my pants to button.

Interesting! I am only 4 weeks and haven't gained any weight, but I am already unable to comfortably wear my smallest pair of jeans. I have a couple of larger pairs that I bought postpartum with LO1 that I should be able to wear for the next month or so, but I am also really looking forward to getting into some comfy, stretchy maternity jeans!

I started in my first trimester for both with some maternity.

i bought maternity clothes around 14 weeks or so with my first and was happy to finally have the pants, but this time around, i fished them out of the bin at 7/8 weeks because the bloat was out of control!

Sooner (2 months or so) but it was all about comfort.

With my first, I didn't start with maternity pants until about 5 months b/c I was in dresses all summer. Now I'm almost 8 weeks and it's uncomfortable to button my pants - trying to stick with dresses again.

I was in mat cloths/bottoms by 8 weeks the second time. I had to get new maternity buttoms because I was down over 20lbs from my first pregnancy.

I started around the same time both times around (10 weeks) mostly for comfort. I definitely actually showed earlier this time around (currently 23 weeks with baby #2).

I was in maternity pants full time by 11 weeks with baby 1, and by about 6 weeks with baby 2! I evened out size-wise by about 20 weeks or so.

The second time around I starting wearing maternity clothing around 8 weeks. Much much sooner than the first.

The first time around I moved to Maternity pants around 27 weeks. The second time around I moved to maternity pants around 28 weeks. I carried high and small both times.

I didn't NEED maternity clothes until probably ~8 months with LO1. I started wearing maternity bottoms with LO2 before I was out of the 1st tri! In part because I was super bloated and also because I already had them, so why not.

I am so impressed by those of you who didn't need maternity clothes the first time until late in your pregnancy! I was using the rubber band trick by the end of my first trimester, and couldn't WAIT to get into some maternity jeans! Looks like I better make the most of the next month, because it sounds like 8 weeks is not uncommon for second time mamas...!

I bought my first maternity jeans around 27-28 weeks. This is my third pregnancy. Before I bought the jeans, I was using a belly band thing that I bought at Target. That let me use my regular jeans and shorts for much longer than I could have if I had to button them!

I'm 9 weeks into my second pregnancy and just had to unbutton my fat pants... maternity wear is in my near future.

at 6 weeks now, and lost 6 lbs, my pants are getting tight, wtf i am not ready!! -
So just to update my experience the second time around: even though I lost weight I was unable to button my jeans by 7 weeks. Crazy! I finished out the summer in dresses and skirts and then bought maternity jeans. I still haven't gained any weight, 16 weeks in, but I look about 6 months pregnant!

I wore them sooner with #2, but I think it's mainly because I had them on hand and they're comfortable!

@mrsrain: my bloat was so much more with #2 that I switched to maternity jeans around 12 weeks (didn't need them until 20 with #1.) Although I popped a lot sooner with #2, I was smaller overall than I was with #1 so it eventually balanced itself out.

with LO #1 I was in maternity pants around 10-11weeks, LO #2 I didn't start wearing maternity jeans until about 6months so you never know

With LO 1, it was about 14 weeks. Now pregnant with LO 2, and had to start maternity pants at 10 weeks. I have one pair of giganto regular work pants that probably won't fit after this week, but then it's going to be maternity 24/7. Comfy, but also weird having so much room in them.

Blegh despite some recent weight loss (~10lbs) I could barely button my pants today (only 5w). They were so tight. I swapped for maternity jeans because omg so comfortable!
