For the last week or so, DD has been waking up and getting dressed/getting her shoes on right away. But then she is insisting all morning long that it's time to go outside and play or whatever our plans are for the day. The problem is, I'm not ready yet! Even if I didn't fix my hair/put on makeup, I still have things to do in the morning before heading out. It gets pretty stressful for me, having her beg to do fun things all morning that I can't do. Anyone use a chart or a special clock or something that conveys the schedule/routine to your LO?

Would it be possible for you to get ready beforehand and then get her ready? And then you can say, we are going to eat breakfast, then we will play, then we will go outside (when it warms up) or something like that?
I think having a set schedule is very important. Like daycare - the kids know they arrive, they play, they go outside at 9am, they have snack at 9:30, etc. A calendar or felt board with what's right now and what's next might not be a bad idea for her!

@mediagirl: she's 3. I love the felt board idea! She is getting dressed herself. It's kind of happening out of my control. We do it the same way everyday but she's just so laser focused on what she wants to do she just can't understand why we aren't doing it.

@Mrs. Sunshine: you could make it really simple with like felt clothes (get dressed), felt toy (play time), felt sun (outside time), felt building (for anytime you are leaving the house for something), felt books, etc.

I bought a skidules board from Amazon and it was really helpful! It was so effective actually that we haven't had to use it in a while because DS started to understand the order in which things need to happen. Also helped with potty training because we would "schedule" it before leaving the house so it took the power struggle out.

Maybe she doesn't know what to do with herself when she is all ready. Maybe have an indoor schedule that leads up to outside time. Twenty minutes -art, twenty minutes-dolls.
