@LindsayInNY: I posted a link above about how Lea wanted to have kids with Cory after he got out of rehab. So sad! A little part of me thinks maybe Lea is pregnant now?

@rrachael: @bluestriped bee: My younger sister's boyfriend passed away unexpectedly in his sleep a couple years ago. I was with her (and DH and my parents) when she found out since it was Easter weekend. I hope no one ever has to see a loved one get that phone call - it was the worst thing ever to see and I can literally replay it almost exactly in my head to date. Watching her over the next 24 hours and basically the next year was so heartbreaking.

@LindsayInNY: OMG, that must have been so hard. I'm so sorry for your sister.

@bluestriped bee: I think one of the hardest things for Lea (based on my experience with my sister), will be if he is found to have overdosed. Depending on how much she knew or didn't know, if he was keeping that from her, that takes a different toll on someone's grieving because you're also then dealing with a bit of deceit. It should be interesting to see what happens going forth - especially with the show.

@LindsayInNY: Yeah, I'm really hoping it wasn't an overdose.

@bluestriped bee: I'm wondering if it was some after-effect of the drugs - like a weakened heart? Or suffocating on vomit (alcohol)?

@LindsayInNY: Yeah, when I found out he was alone, the first thing I thought of was the suffocating/choking on vomit.

@bluestriped bee: I'm really sad about this too. Still thinking about it a lot today and recently started watching season 4. Now it makes me sad to watch it

First, as previously stated, I am saddened by the loss and feel so sorry for those who were close to him.

There is a part of me though, that has no sympathy for this (drug/alcohol od . . . if that's what it was) . . . I may get flamed for this, but, seriously, I get so angry when I see people who have essentially *won the lottery* od/commit suicide when they have beaten the odds and *won* at life! It just seems that much more self-indulgent . . . I don't say this to diminish anyone's pain or emotional/psychological (and/or physiological, for that matter) struggles, which are very very real, but what about the people who deal with those AND who deal with the every-day monotony/drudgery of working in jobs they hate, for little pay, and with little hope for a better/ easier future. So laaaaaame.

@MsLipGloss: So you have no sympathy for someone who was open about his struggle, admitted his past mistakes and trying to get help? I agree with you a little that others like Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes who continue to think they are above it all. I personally wouldn't be that shocked if something happened to them. It is sad and I do think Amanda Bynes is calling out for help and she just needs to understand that. But for Cory, I do think it's sad because he was trying to get better and he was a nice, down to earth and good guy.

Also, lumping overdoses and suicide into one category is kinda wrong. Yes, people on drugs can turn to suicide but not all suicides are because of drugs. Depression is one reason and it's not an easy thing to simply recover from. Also, money or career does not make that go away. We all know that. You could be a billionaire or have a good job and still suffer from depression. I personally don't think Cory deserved to die when there are others worse out there. That is why so many people are so sadden by the news of his death.

@bluestriped bee: I absolutely have sympathy for their struggle(s) . . . nobody is immune from depression/sadness regardless of their station in life. But, outside of those parameters, there is a small part of me that is angry with that person for wasting such an incredible opportunity for an amazing life.

ETA: And lumping od/suicide together makes sense in this context because it is the wasteful (for lack of better word) behavior . . . not that od/suicide have a relationship.

@MsLipGloss: Well, I'm pretty sure people doing drugs or drinking alcohol did not plan on dying or overdosing. So I don't think they thought it was wasteful. I'm sure they were just trying to have a good time, like I was when I was in college. (Thankfully, I was a little cautious about getting into trouble.) I have never done drugs or drink that comes anywhere close to having a problem but I do have sympathy for people who can't seem to kick a habit. It can be a never ending cycle. It is an illness and for some people it's in their genes to have some sort of addiction. There is a lot of complexities that comes into play on the psychology of addiction. It's an interesting read.

Anyway, I do feel as though you are threadjacking, so until we find out what he actually died from. I think it's best to wait to have these discussions and you are more than welcome to create a thread all about it.

@bluestriped bee: Totally not intending to thread jack. Just sharing my opinion (both sides of it) about a life lost too early and how it is--in my opinion--both tragic and wasteful all at the same time.

So sad. Unfortunately addiction affects all walks of life. Most likely when a person turns to addiction its from something that may have occured to them in their childhood. Nobody wakes up one day and says I think I am going to to be an addict. I am sure most celebrities who are addicted showed signs before they were rich and famous. I feel incredibly sorry for anyone who has to suffer from this disease.

Hoping it wasn't drugs but either way a young and talented man died too soon.
