I've been dealing with a ton of stress (DH & I possibly seperating) and my milk supply has totally tanked. LO also wasn't nursing well for a few days due to travel, a cold, etc.
I just went back to work and will be away from her for 12 hrs on M & W and 10 hrs on Thursday.
Today I sent 13 oz to daycare for 9 hours... I'm hoping that's enough. I did feed her right before she went. A babysitter is picking her up from daycare and can give her milk as soon as she gets her home if she can't hold off until I get home...
I only have 8 oz in the freezer and I am only getting 2oz now pumping in the morning (for 30 min) after not having nursed for 4 hours. Last night I got even less.
I'm so afraid I will have to start supplementing if I can't pump enough.
I'm wondering if I should be pumping through the night? Or will lack of sleep make things worse? How would I get an Rx to increase supply? Ask my PCP or OB? Which one?
I'm trying to drink more (I have a cold right now, so I need more fluids anyway and I'm sure that's also having an impact), eating oatmeal, and taking some lactation support pills. I think I can get enough milk for Wednesday, but I'm worried about Thursday...
I know formula isn't the worst thing in the world, but so far (3 mo) she's been entirely breastfed and it was something I felt good about. It makes me cry to think I might not be able to get enough milk to send with her.
