charlie and olive don't have any, but i wouldn't mind if my parents gave them one. i wouldn't have any idea what to name them!

I had a chinese middle name growing up but dropped it when I changed my name after I got married. I didn't feel that it was that significant because it was barely used. My parents and grandparents called me either by my first name or another chinese name. The father in law recently verbalized that he was already thinking of a chinese middle name for our LO. I told my husband that we will consider but may not necessarily be in his legal name.

We looked at different Hebrew names but decided to go the family name route. She'll be named by the Rabbi with a Hebrew name though.

I have a cultural name and growing up I hated it. I finally grew into it in college. Now I love it, there's usually no one with my name. To make things confusing, my parents call me a nickname which doesn't at all sound like it could come from my name. It always creates confusion when my work/school and parental lives collide!

My in-laws gave LO a Chinese name and my parents are still thinking of a Korean name for her. But neither are/will be legal.

My hubby and I both have traditional indian names. I always loved it but my hubby's name is hard to pronounce so he struggled a bit growing up. We named our little girl with an indian name (both first and middle) but we picked a name that is easy to pronounce and won't make her feel insecure (at least I hope so). I am proud to have a rich cultural background and wouldn't want to take that away from my kids.

We were actually just talking about this the other day. My DH is Vietnamese and his name is hard to pronounce for english speakers and can be turned into not nice curse words by mean kids which he delt with growing up.

Our kids will be given a Viet name but it will not be their legal name, mostly for my DH's parents and relatives.
