I usually take Claritin, but usually hold off on taking it until my allergies are really bad. So far I've been mostly OK, except when I visited the local botanical garden. So many flowers! I was sneezing like crazy, what a rookie movie.
What meds or other solutions cure your allergies?

If I wasn't pregnant, I would be taking raw local honey to combat allergies. I've done it for a few allergy seasons to success.

I recently came off Claritin and am managing my allergies by cutting out dairy and eating a spoonful or two of local honey a day. It's really working!
@cascademom: Can you not take honey when pregnant, or just raw honey?

@LulaBee: I'm just being overly cautious about raw materials and pregnancy. I would have to look it up if local raw honey is okay or not for pregnancy.

I have been on allergy shots for 2 years due to allergy induced asthma. I also have eliminated dairy from my diet.

After my pregnancy, my allergies were gone! This is the third allergy season since and I can tell they're starting to come back. I used to take Xyzal, Flonase and eye drops to manage them. Now I just rely on Flonase.

@Mrs. Coral: are the shots working? DH is starting allergy shots next week. It's a 5 year long process, so I how it will be worth it for him!

@Shizaz: They have worked WONDERS for me! My asthma episodes have become practically non-existent, and my sinus infections have too. I highly recommend them to anyone who suffers from allergies. I initially went this route as I was sick of being loaded up on allergy meds and steroids.

@Mrs. Coral: That's great! That's basically why DH is going too. He is so tired of spending money on allergy meds and having to take them all the time. It's almost year round that he's congested. We keep saying even if it helps a bit, it'll be worth it! So that's very promising you've had such positive results!
