Charlie throws up pretty regularly, especially if he's not feeling well. So when I am holding him after he takes a bottle, I've learned to follow two rules: 1) I'm not standing on a rug and 2) his mouth is pointed in a direction where potential puke will do the least damage.

Two nights ago, Charlie threw up in his sleep all over his crib. I blamed myself because I haven't been burping him as much when I put him down. So last night, I made sure to lightly burp Charlie after he finished his nighttime bottle (another story in of itself), and I made sure to follow my two rules.

He of course vomited everywhere. I was happy at least that the damage wasn't too bad (he threw up on the hardwood floor instead of on the rug). After he threw up, I carried him to the tub and put him in there to change him out of his grody sleep sack. He then promptly threw up some more! He is good at vomiting. It takes a lot of planning to make sure his vomit doesn't ruin any of our furniture or rugs.

I guess when it comes to potential vomit, I have learned to be pretty paranoid. Do you worry about vomit, or is your LO good at holding down their food?
