Yep, I did. I had a notice period of 3 months, so I called HR and told them first. Then I called my line manager. I kept it very matter of fact, I didn't get into the "why" of the decision.

I found out much later, though, that had I gone back, I would have been made redundant. So I missed out on some nice benefits by quitting ahead, but it wasn't a risk I could take.

ANYWAYS. You have to do what is best for your family. Ultimately they'll understand or they won't, but it is the right call for you.

I did. I had four months paid mat leave with the possibility to extend up to 1 year unpaid. I extended 4 months, but then I quit a month into the extension. They were very understanding and ended up hiring full time the temp person who replaced me.

No real advice other than to be honest, you have to do what is best for you and your family, I hope they will be as understanding as my former employer was.

I quit 2 weeks before I was supposed to go back. I don't think my bosses were surprised, but I just told them I wanted to stay home longer and would not be returning. Good luck!

i didn't quit during my leave, but did quit shortly after i came back because it didn't make sense financially or emotionally.

i left it very matter of fact and positive. don't make it emotional (i had to try REALLY hard not to do this). good luck!
