With Charlie I pushed for three hours and because I wasn't making enough progress, I ended up with a c-section. He was facing up (facing my belly button instead of my spine) and at an angle, which made pushing him out way harder (most babies are facing down). The doctor also told me I have a very narrow cervix, which didn't help, especially since he was a big baby..

With Olive, my placenta separated (placental abruption) during labor and I started bleeding. Had I been at home and not delivered fast enough, she could have died since the placenta delivers oxygen and nutrients. I delivered the placenta at the same time Olive came out (most women deliver it separately), but luckily she was ok.

As far as labor complications go, I didn't have anything serious, but it's just a reminder that you never know what will happen.

Did you experience any labor complications?
