I had one at my 36 week appointment and went in to labor that night. My doctor never brought it up before that appointment.

My doctor wouldn't do one until 38 weeks.

Not till 36w, but I had a lot of vaginal ultrasound checks of cervical length for preterm labor symptoms.

Was offered one at 40 weeks with the midwife and my specific midwife won't do it before 40 weeks (my friend just asked her if she would and would do a sweep at 39 weeks and the midwife said no)

I was 1 cm dilated at 30 weeks with my DD and put on bed rest. I was checked pretty regularly after that. I ended up making it to 37 weeks though so I don't think the weekly checks made anything progress more than it already was.

Yes, I had one at 34 weeks the first time to be sure my frequent Braxton hicks weren't actually real contractions and causing me to dilate. I had one at 18 weeks this time because of how much pressure I've been feeling.

My first OB practice didn't ask if you wanted one before 38 weeks (unless there was a reason for them to check!) My second OB asked at 37 and I did because I was going out of town and wanted to know if there would be an issue. I didn't get a check until active labor at the hospital after that.

Yes, I was having a lot of Braxton Hicks around 28 weeks and they wanted to make sure it wasn't pre-term labor.

My OB's policy is not to do any cervical checks until you present with labour symptoms. This is because there isn't any strong correlation between initial dilation and onset of active labour; you can be 2 cm dilated for weeks but not go into labour, or fully closed and give birth 12 hrs later (like myself - had been having contractions for a couple of hrs 2 mins apart and was 0.5 cm when first checked, and had the baby 9-10 hrs after that).

Only in labor though she offered around 37 I think. I would have had one on my due date to talk about induction I had planned later that week but never got there.

Nope! Don't think I didn until 38w. The first time I was already 3.5cm and my labor started the day after my check.

With my first, my OB asked if I'd like to be checked at 36 weeks and I declined due to my BFF's story. She was checked at 36 weeks and was 3cm. She got her hopes up that it would be soon, and went past her due date and was beyond done. I didn't have any until I was 39 weeks. I was completely closed and gave birth 2 days later.

With LO2, I declined all checks because he was a scheduled C-section. So no need!

I never had a cervical check until I was in labor and arrived at the hospital when I was 4 days overdue.

@2PeasinaPod: @AstroBee: Same. My midwives didn't do cervical checks until labor. My first, last, and only check was at 8 cm dilated. It was go time after that.
