Yes. I got about 20% of my tuition covered by scholarships my first two years. Then, I transferred to another school and had 90% of my tuition covered by scholarahips for my final two years.

I went to a private school and received a large grant from the school. What annoyed me was that whenever I applied and received a scholarship, they took that amount away in grant money. So I had a few here and there, but it was a few thousand/year, and also didn't help me much since I would have received the grant money in it's place.

I voted small but now that i'm thinking about it, maybe should've voted large? My first year was paid for b/c of FAFSA and my last year was paid for by my company because I signed on to come back after an internship. They paid me back at 6 and 12 month increments (7K worth). Scholarship-wise, i got a few grand every year. I went to a state school. I also received a $750/yearly scholarship for being a woman in science.

Work paid for my masters so that was 100% covered which was great

I applied for dozens and dozens and dozens of scholarships and won/got a fair amount of scholarship $$. I also got merit scholarships from the private college I attended first year (then I transferred to an in-state school). My parents also had a college savings account set up for me.

My scholarships covered $10k out of $25k per year. And that was the highest academic scholarship my school gave. So I was still stuck with $60ish grand, mostly in private loans, when it was all said and done.

Yes, I received an academic scholarship for college, since I graduated salutatorian from high school. It paid 60% of my tuition ($15,000/year) Unfortunately, I didn't stay at that college, and I just switched to a community college instead.

Yes. I received the HOPE scholarship in undergrad-automatic 100% of tuition and fees (back then) with a 3.5 or higher GPA. For law school, I applied to the schools, and was offered merit based scholarships (didn't do a separate application). I received a full ride to a large private school, but turned it down for a better school (received 25% tuition there), which was still reasonable since it's public, and I was in-state.

I had an academic scholarship that covered 50% of my tuition. I went to a private university so I'm still up to my eyeballs in debt.

Yes, I got a $500 scholarship... so books for a quarter.

I don't remember the amounts or percentages, but I went to a small private college and I had academic grants that brought down the cost to be equal to a NYS school. So maybe a third of the tuition was covered? For grad school I didn't get any assistance because I wasn't in a phd track program.

I don't remember how many I applied for, but I did receive one for 2 or 3 years. Dollar amount was relatively small, but I went to a state school so it ended up covering all of my instate tuition. I think I still paid out of state fees for one year on top of it (and one year without).

I got a bunch if different small scholarships, one largish one. In total I got 3/4 of my total tuition (which was much less than room and board). Got $9k; tuition was $12k total for 4 yrs), room and board was an add'l 32k for 4 years but my mom paid that).

I was so lucky to go to a UC school before the crazy tuition hikes of the last few years.

It was bullshit. I graduated high school with honors, a foreign language and lots of extracurriculars. I did everything they told me would get me one.

I was awarded a significant scholarship that covered half of my yearly tuition. The rest of my tuition was paid for by another small scholarship, federal grants, and KEES scholarships from the state. In four years, I paid $800 out of pocket in addition to books and supplies.

I had something called tuition futures,so I couldnt apply for scholarships to put toward room & board, but I also didn't have to pay tuition!

Fafsa is covering about 50% of my tuition, and I applied for a grant Im eligible for for wbinf a mother and it's paying a portion of my child care costs during the semester.

I had lots of grants and smallish scholarships for my undergrad degree at a large state university, but it didn't pay for more than half of my costs

For grad school, I won a fellowship and not only had all my tuition and living expenses paid, I also received a stipend on top of that....without having to be a TA or do any work for it. How I got such a sweet deal is beyond me but you won't see me complaining!

So, when I was applying to college, more than 20 years ago, you had to go to the library and look for scholarships in a book, and apply by photocopying the application, filling it in and mailing it. I applied for what I could, but I probably didn't apply for enough based on my own selection critieria. I am curious how the scholarship application process has evolved, anyone care to elaborate?

I had a great work study job, I had loans and I had some tiny scholarships.
