Yes. I buy most of it second hand. It's good clothing that I can resell, though.

No. The husband is against buying second hand clothing but he's okay with hand me down from family members and close friend.

I wish I did more, but the thrift/consignment stores in my area don't have great prices or selections. It's often cheaper to buy new from the clearance rack.

I don't buy second hand because I need very specific things for my son and it's easier for me to buy online rather than go to multiple stores and run the risk of not finding what I need.

I almost exclusively shop second hand for my daughter, plus, we've received some great clothing from buy nothing. I enjoy shopping, so I don't mind sorting through for nice pieces and good deals. I found an adorable little tea collection dress and sweater a few days ago for $2 and am excited for her to fit into them. I buy almost all of my clothing used as well, with the exception of underwear, bras, socks, and things like tank tops which get worn out quickly.

I'll stop at a couple nicer 2nd hand stores and buy mainly jeans or shoes if they're priced well. (scored some brand new converse sneakers for $6 that way )
I'll hit up garage sales if they price their stuff cheap enough, but I agree some people price too high and then I'd rather go buy new from clearance racks.

@DillonLion: I think it's hygiene. Even when I explain that if we just wash it, it'll be clean, his answer is still no.

I had some luck with baby/toddler stuff, but I haven't found the second hand options to be reliable since LO turned 4. He destroys his clothes and shoes--no matter how "high quality" they are in shreds by the time I finally pitch them, so I can see why there isn't much available second hand. I try to make sure I'm buying only what he actually needs and no more.

I did when she was a baby because it was much easier to find like-new things at that point. These days, so many of the things I buy used end up being more worn out than I'd prefer, so I don't do it as much. I tend to buy online though, and it's harder to gauge how worn things are. I need to find a consignment store so I can check out things in person.

We do a mix. Honestly, I love getting used stuff! I think it's a great thing to do.

Our wardrobes for ourselves and LO are about 80% secondhand (bought on consignment or hand-me-downs) and 20% on sale from an inexpensive store if we are looking for a specific piece of clothing.

No, we mostly get a combo of hand-me-downs, clothing from grandmas and shop super sales at Carter's/Old Navy. As far as I know, we don't have any good consignment stores around here besides Goodwill and I haven't found anything I like there. I have a feeling I am looking in the wrong places.

Yep, I buy lots of secondhand higher end brands like Tea and Boden. It's awesome because i can typically resell and recoup almost all of what I paid. It's like renting!

@pinkcupcake: I totally do this, too. Makes me feel better about my girls' excessive wardrobes! It's so easy, why not?! You just have to know your prices.

I never have. I have been given hand me downs so it's not like I have a problem with them. I have been able to get really good deals with coupons, sales, etc and haven't spent a ton on clothes so far.

We get lots of good quality hand-me-downs from cousins so we are grateful for that. If I shop, I like to buy new and shop during sales or clearance events at local stores. I find that the deals are so much better and people still need income from these jobs anyway. I am trying to buy less through Amazon too and buy it at the local stores instead.
