I do not... my school has a high alumni giving rate, so I am working to bring it down. I felt my college experience was ok, but in spite of my college instead of because of it. So this is my way of expressing that...

Ha! I do not give to mine but DH went to the same one and he gives! I give to my high school!

No, but not because I don't think they deserve it, but rather there's not much left in our budget for stuff like that.

No, we don't have too much disposable income, especially with the baby. If we are going to donate, there are animal rescue charities we would much rather donate to.

Nope! DH's alma mater sends up mail to ask us to give almost every month but we are still paying his school loans and don't have the extra money to give to them! We also have other things closer to our hearts that we give to with the money we have to donate (church, family & friends missions, etc).

Yes, at most once a year and a small amount. But I volunteer to do alumni interviews and staffed a high school college fair once for them.

Yes, every year. Not a ton, but always something. It's part of the school culture, and a school with a very high alumni giving rate.

I used to until my university screwed me over about 2 years after I graduated. I needed a letter from the university and couldn't get it even after trying for 9 months. After that, I stopped giving to the university and every year when a student calls to ask for donations, I tell that poor student my story and ask them to pass it onto the head of the alumni assocation/donations people.

Nope, no room in the budget, and if there were, I wouldn't I work for my alma mater and know how they treat their staff- no money from me!

Nope, but that doesn't stop them from calling me every other night...blah.

We joke that there's no giving until the student loans are paid off. It always annoyed us that they called to solicit donations in the first year after graduation when you still had so much debt. Our loans are now paid off, so we can't use that excuse anymore.

No because we're not making any money yet, but even if we were I wouldn't because I did not have a good experience.

@ms.janedoe: did you go to a school in MN?
Nope - I went to a comm. college and as a result we have no disposable income. bahaha. jk. but for real - we don't consider that a worthwhile donation. We would rather give to our church, community, missions work, and families in need.

Yup! DH and I met in college and are still completely obsessed with it almost 8 years out. All our current friends are from college, my mom and brother went there and I just love it! I do specify to give it to the two sport teams that I played on, to help them some rather than just give it to the general fund...Plus, there's a big competition every year among several similar schools to see who can get the highest alumni giving percentage and I like my school to do as well as it can!

Nope, they got enough money from me! And at undergrad tuition of about 43k/year now, it just doesn't seem like they're hurting for it!

No. I didn't love my experience there and it's my way of letting them know that. I could have really used financial aid when I was in school and they never gave me a dime so they aren't getting a dime from me!

I don't because we're broke! Most of the people I graduated with went on to become doctors/lawyers/really highly paid business people. I work for a nonprofit making very little, so I don't feel guilty.
