I don't. I don't have anything in common with my mostly male, very young co-workers. The other moms at my company (3 of us) don't either. I'm not sure if the one single, young female who works at our company does, though. Going out with these guys is not going to get me anywhere with my career so it's not something I feel the need to do.

Nope. My team right now doesn't really do after work activities. We're all super open/close, just no one has the extra time to spare!

Nope. Most of the time when my coworkers go out, it's to go drinking after work, and for the past two years I've been pregnant or breastfeeding, so not something I can or am interested in doing! Plus I have daycare pick-up duty, so I'd have to really schedule things to go out with people.

Nope! I eat lunch at my desk since I get 30 mins so I can leave to get R at 430. Even before she came along, I went to lunch by myself or ate at my desk. Never done anything after work from anyone here.

yep. we have after work outings (i.e going out drinking) about every 1-2 months.

Yep! We have work happy hours that it's highly encouraged we attend for networking/team building. And i'm good friends with a couple of girls i work with and we go out on our own sometimes.

I am close to a couple of my co-workers. We'll go out to lunch occasionally and hang out on the weekends sometimes. I invited them to M's birthday party, too.

When I taught in Philly, my school was almost all young single teachers so we went to happy hour all the time on Fridays. Now that I work way out in the burbs, my coworkers (and myself) are all married with kids and such. We still go out occasionally, but not like my beginning days. Good thing I went to those happy hours though, it's how I met my husband.

I try not to. I just have no interest in spending time with work people more than what is absolutely necessary. 40 hours per week with them is enough!
I also don't live anywhere close to the office so that does factor into it.
ETA: Sometimes I will have lunch with coworkers but I'm pretty concious of what I eat so I bring my own lunch, and around 85% of the time I end up eating at my desk. I'm fine with that.

Yes! I have a couple ladies in my group at work and we're pretty close! We eat together every day, go out once a week, and will hang out occasionally on the weekends.

@mediagirl: Sometimes! We have holiday parties and during the day outings every so often, never really going out to bars or drinking or anything like that, although some of them do. Usually everyones spouse/significant others come alone. I work with 99% women. Even though I work with really great people I am so busy that if I do have free time I am trying to catch up with my best friends since I spend way more time at work with my coworkers. But a lot of the ladies are work with are best friends and hang out all the time outside work. I think its pretty common in the medical field to end up making really good life long friends with fellow coworkers.

I used too before my LO. We used to do FAC every Friday with a huge group of us, but as we got older we don't really do it anymore unless it's someone's last day/birthday. I go to lunch frequently with a couple girls from work and one of my best friends just quit so we still hangout a lot (we were friends before working together though.)

Yes, but most of of he ones that I hang out with I was friends with before. But, we do have many work functions and parties with just women from work and I really enjoy their company.

No. All my co-workers are at least 20 years older than me and they don't go out after work to begin with, let alone with me.
I have zero interest. I will eat my lunch in the lunch room and read and if they join me fine, but I would not go out of my way to go out with them.
I have a few friends from other companies who work close, and I go out for lunches with them.
At the end of the day, I just want to get home.

I don't have co-workers now but I found four of my closest friends after moving here by going out with them after work.

At the school I just left most of the teachers were in their early/mid-20s and single and did happy hours. Everyone was invited but like @adira, I have also been pregnant/BFing/picking up DS from daycare for the last two years. Also DH and I share a car and live 30 minutes from my work, so by the time I pick up DH and DS and take them home I am exhausted. I am hoping at my new school there will be some teachers I have more things in common with. It would be nice to have work friends.

All the time! We have so much fun and it helps get over the stress of relentlessly defiant teenagers and crazy parents!

Yes. One of my co-workers is like an auntie to my daughter, she and her partner have babysat for us and we'll meet up at the park sometimes. One of my other co-workers and I bond over food, we go out for burgers & wings sometimes.
At every job I've had I've always gone out with co-workers. I'm the kind of person who likes to make friends with people I see 5 days a week (well, the people I like that I see 5 days a week).

With my former co-workers, yes! Loved them!!
Now, not so much. Plus, I rather go home and spend time with DS. I miss him after being at work all day.

Nope. They're all older than I am. It's been that way since I started here. I socialize more with DH's coworkers and spouses because it's a younger work environment.

We go to happy hours sometimes. I consider myself actual friends (not just work friends) with a handful of people at work, but we don't necessarily hang out outside of work too often.
