Sometimes I'm jealous. I wish we had J sooner sometimes, we weren't old but we also weren't spring chickens some young moms do better than older moms I've seen! (I voted other-mainly bc sometimes I do judge them ie: car seat not buckled properly, not getting proper nutrition)

Well it depends how young. When I see what look like a teen mom, I wouldnt say I judge them, but I will admit I think differently than I might about a mid twenties plus mom. More like, wow that's got to be hard, than anything else. I also wonder how old she actually is (since I know some people look really young) or if she is a babysitter. But mostly, I realize it's not my business and don't think that much about it.

I don't really think twice about it but I admit that I can be kind of judgey when a parent of any age is just really botching it- but not just snapped at their kid or the toddler has a messy face kind of thing, that happens to everyone no matter what their age!

Not based on age alone. I had my son at 17 and I did a pretty darn good job.

Not judge as in having a negative view but if they are a teen I think it's probably hard. But it's rare that I'm 99% sure someone actually IS a teen. And even when I think that it's difficult, I don't think that's really a judgment on their character...

I am a young mom and I don't feel like too many people have judged me (I don't notice any looks) but I guess people probably have. Oh well!

As for judging people for not buckling their kid or whatever, I judge moms of any age. And as for judging young moms based on their life situation..I sometimes judge people's situations (people I know) but that's not age dependent either.

No...I mean really, it could be the babysitter, they could look younger than they are (I'm 26 and definitely get mistaken as way younger,) and even if they are genuinely a teen mom I wouldn't judge as long as they're doing their best. I try to not make assumptions...I mean realistically, I had sex as a teenager, I'm not any better than them - birth control can fail for anyone! I mean, if somehow I knew they were a teen mom and that they were stupid about it and that's how they ended up pregnant...well, I'll be honest, I might judge that for a second. But I'd just hope they've moved on from it and are being a good, responsible mom.

I understand! I'm 26 and will be the same age when I have my LO. I always get comments about how young I look, and even though I shouldn't, I think about what people will think when they see me with my LO.

@PermaStudent: You're going to feel judged if you're looking for it - because people are going to be looking at your cute kid and you're going to assume that they're judging you I would practice not caring now, honestly, thicken your armor!

I am often told I look younger than I am (had LO the day I turned 25), one of my close mom friends is sensitive because she feels 'old' pushing 30 and judged. You just can't win

Sorry, maybe that isn't helpful. To answer your original question, no, because I can't tell ages worth a darn. So if I'm judging, it has nothing to do with age because I have no clue ha!

@PermaStudent: It's funny, in my local babywearing facebook group it seems like 1/2 the people complain at least twice a week about how someone was rude, or made a snarky comment, or whatever about them wearing their kid. The other half, myself included, have never heard anything but compliments or curious, happy questions. This can't possibly reflect reality with such a dichotomy - to some extent you truly 'see' what you're looking for

To add, I think my self confidence has grown, and I have mellowed, after becoming a parent (and surviving the 'fourth trimester', I wouldn't have said this at 3 months PP).

Nope. As long as someone looks like they have their sh*t together, I have no issue. Although if someone looks really young I do tend to assume they may be a babysitter/nanny/aunt rather than mom.

No, I mean, what is there to judge? The alternative is that she got an abortion or gave up the baby for adoption. Either way, i would just feel sorry for her if she appears to be struggling. otherwise i dont care.

Don't worry! Having a kid will age you anyway hahaha. I don't judge based on age alone (unless it's really extreme), in fact I am jealous because I think we are biologically "meant to" have kids much younger than many of us do.... I am jealous of the energy of early 20s moms and the fact that they seem to have it together (if they do!) as much or more than I do in my mid 30s!

No, not at all.

I'm not saying I don't judge other moms, I do. I judge when I see a mom screaming at their toddler, or dragging a kid by their arm, or putting Dr. Pepper in a baby's bottle. It doesn't matter how old the mom is.

I had Viviana at 22 though, so... I'm hardly one to have a problem with young moms.

@PermaStudent: Is that all? Girl, you have to brush that dirt off your shoulder. Being a mom - being a woman - means being judged constantly. You can't let it get to you.

I judge moms who look are yelling and swearing at their kids or feeding them chips and soda at 9 am or yanking them and hitting them. Haha. Not because of age. My mom had me at 17 and I mentored a girl who had her first at 18. No judgment for age.

I wouldn't last very long in my state if I was judging young moms. Most people here are very young moms!
