Hellobee Boards

Not that recently, but I had several (like 6-7) relatives and friends who were old school Republican and have left the party in the past 2 years as things shifted so far right, especially on social issues. They also don't support the huge R spending that took place under Bush. I don't think the Republican party will ever win them back - - they are not enthusiastic Dems either now; but all will vote for HRC.

Me! I never was 100% for either but leaned more twords one, well after a few months and really paying attention my vote has changed

@Anagram: I think it is interesting that so many Republicans are not voting at all. I think if I haaaated the Democratic candidate and was "meh" about the Republican one, I would still vote, just not choose a presidential candidate and vote for Democrats in Congress. I think Trump is going to cause the GOP to lose their majority.

I know a lot of die-hard republicans that just really don't want to vote for Trump. Several have said they won't vote, but I'm also not sure that they will stick to it. They're really conflicted about not voting for Trump and essentially handing HRC the win.

I actually have family members who planned to vote third party (Johnson), but are for Clinton now after viewing the last debate.

Not recently, but we have a very close friend who is republican and has worked in national politics in the past (he's in the private sector now), including on a past presidential campaign, who has been never-trump since at least the early summer. Not sure if he'll vote Johnson or Clinton though (ETA though on second thought I'd doubt he'd vote Johnson since I know foreign policy is one of his major priorities...!)

@daniellemybelle: Exactly! I think I'd also try to find the best third-party candidate for president. Even though there's basically no way for them to win under our current system, a greater than normal number of people voting for them would still make a statement about general dissatisfaction regarding the candidates.

Just remember, if you don't vote, you have no right to complain about the outcome.

@Ajsmommy: Whaaaaaat? To vote for Trump?! That's baffling...

@Adira: I think it comes down to electing leaders who will legislate in such a way that aligns with your desires for the country. But yes, if that were the case (like a Dem Trump & Congress people who were all about him) it would be a pretty hard situation! Thankfully we are not in that position!

@MrsSCB: I would hate to be in that position... because I do think that 3rd party candidate votes are pretty much a bad idea all around, but I also have not been in a situation where I just could not stomach voting for either candidate at all.
