I'm on my second type of birth control pill and I'm not liking it all. I've been struggling for several months now just trying to make it through a few months to see if things would be better after I got used to it. Still no luck. I have an appointment next week to see what else we can hopefully do.
Do you love your birth control method? If you do like, what do you like about it? If you don't like it, what are the side effects?

Yes. It's PNP + condoms. The last time I was on the pill, I got super depressed and swore that I would never do it again.

I'm on a pill and its not awful but i dont love it... No mood swings, but lower sex drive and I can not lose weight on it.
Hubs is not convinced we could prevent if i wasnt on the pill

I had a really hard time on the pill. It made my skin break out really bad all over my body and really itchy. Almost within a week of stopping, it went away. We're doing NFP right now.

Well, pregnancy is a very effective method I guess.
I was on a couple different types of pills before ttc and by the end I just wasn't a fan. I felt so much better when I stopped. So between babies we used pull out or condoms. But those require a lot of being careful, so I won't be using that method after this baby.
I'm hoping I love an iud since we are pretty sure we are done after this baby. Hoping some iud ladies chime in.

I've never done well on any pill. PMS turns to PMDD on a pill. I have up. We were doing pull out or NFP before we were ttc.

@Chillybear: T doesn't think charting is a viable method of prevention either, even though I did it for two years prior to TTC.

We use PNP combined with some basic NFP stuff and I love it. Before this we NTNP and I got pregnant first cycle for each baby and now in the nine cycles since I've had a period after baby 2 we've had no scares! So I think it's working just fine. That said, we will welcome any oops babies so either way we're ok with this method.
I won't go on hormonal birth control and we both really dislike condoms so this seems to be our best route until we decide on something more permanent.

Well, we were using condoms and I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant. 
My DH will be getting a vasectomy during his paternity leave.....then I think I'll really like our birth control method.

I've had 2 Mirenas and I really like them - but I'm not comfortable at all with NFP and I want a really, really, really, really effective form of bc because I'm not cool with any surprises. The major pros are it's foolproof and I don't have to do *anything*, and my period is basically non-existent. I don't really have any cons, but I know other people don't love IUDs.
FWIW, I've tried a bunch of different pills over the past 15 years and never especially liked any of them.

I was on a few different pills before we started TTC the first time. While I didn't love them, I didn't find them to be as bad as many people complain of.
But I was tired of having to take a pill every day, so between kids I am using an IUD. I had a Skyla IUD placed 3 weeks ago at my 6 week postpartum appointment. I like it so far, but admittedly don't have a whole a lot of experience with it yet.

I'm pregnant now but I had a Mirena before. Had it removed to start TTC and was able to get pregnant within 3 months. Plan to get another after this baby is born unless DH wants a vasectomy.

We've always just used condoms. I tried different types of pills when I was younger, and always got really sick.

@Mrs.KMM: why skyla instead of more a, if you don't mind me asking? I thought skyla was more for women who hadn't had a baby yet, but I've done next to no research.

@Foodnerd81: I had a variety of reasons. It has slightly lower hormones and I always needed low hormone pills or my body went crazy. Also, my body only ever dilated to 4 cm before I ended up needing a c-section so I've never had a vaginal delivery. And lastly, we're using it between kids and don't need anywhere near the 5 years that Mirena gives (heck - I'll have it removed before the 3 years that Skyla gives too!).
My NP who placed mine says they are advertising it more towards women without children since it is a bit smaller. But that there is absolutely nothing about its functionality that makes any difference if you've had kids or not.

We always used the pull-put method, prior to TTC. It was 100% effective for us (according to PP, it's 97% when used correctly, which is better than condoms). It's not as satisfying, but it leaves the burden of the mess on him usually, which is nice. 
I don't respond well to hormonal birth control. DH plans to get a vasectomy this year, since we've hit our out of pocket max for the family for the year.

I loved the Mirena. No period, didn't have to think about it. After this one is born I'm getting another, and D is getting snipped.

We use condoms now and meh. Such a mood killer to have to stop and get one, lol! Not to mention when dh forgets to get more when we run out but I also was afraid to mess with hormones while nursing since I was already having supply issues when I had my pp appointment, and now that los 16 months I'm still nursing plus we're prob ttc within a year so it seems silly to go on the pill for such a short time.

Condoms and pull and pray. Yes I do. After being on the pill for years, pregnancy, and then breastfeeding, it was awesome to finally get my hormones lined out. I don't ever want to mess with them again!

I hated being on the pill. I am happy to just either pull and pray or condoms. We are trying not with out temping and charting. We shall see how it goes.

Paragard IUD, really like it so far. I have only had it for 3 months but I love that I dont have to think about it, it is hormone free, and it has not affected my periods as much as it states it can.

I'm on Depo. As a con it increases the risk for osteoporosis. But I love it. No period is the best pro.
