If your LO is 2+ do you put a hat on them to protect their head from the sun? If so, which kind?
I just found two sun hats in a basket and decided to throw them on the girls and surprisingly they kept them on. It helps with the bugs biting their head (we have bad biting bugs here right now!) and so their heads don't get burnt, plus shading their face.

I did last summer when she turned two. I'm hoping to again this summer- I think as long as I am wearing a hat too she will keep it on. She has such light hair I feel like her scalp still needs the protection. Plus her face of course.

My kids are 5 and 2.5 and they wear sunhats. Most kids here do though and daycare definitely asks us to send hats. We have this style, but a different color. I like that it has covers face, ears and the back of the neck and has a tie to keep it from blowing away.

Absolutely. We have a columbia hat she got as a gift. It has sun protection and mesh sides. Adjustable in size from infant to little kid! My daughter has been wearing it since she was 1 and she's 4 now. I loved it so much I bought one for DD2.
DD1 will keep a hat on but DD2 won't right now.

I try. Last weekend she wore her hat until her cousins took theirs off to use as buckets to water the grass and she decided to join in the fun.

@lamariniere: we have the same style hat! It's great for providing extra sun protection all around he face, neck and shoulders when it's super hot or a long outing. Plus it's water resistant so she can wear it in the water and folds up super easy so it's easy to carry around.

LO1 has a bucket hat from ON with pretty good coverage. She has also started wearing her sun bonnet that she had as a baby ever since I got one for DS.
She's pretty good about wearing a hat. She's very fair so it isn't really optional. DH and I wear them outside too.

My 3.5 year old wears a baseball cap when playing and a sun hat when at the beach. She won't keep one on at the pool now that she is swimming more.

Yes, always. He is used to it so he doesn't usually complain. I have pale Irish skin so I need to be careful. My son has a beautiful darker skin tone and tans easily but we still try to be careful.

My 2.5 year old loves hats, so it's usually pretty easy to get him to keep them on. He alternates through a few floppy bucket hats and a few baseball hats depending on his mood.

My 5.5 year old will ask to wear a hat, he thinks they're cool. I particularly like the brim style hats, but sometimes he'll ask for a ball cap so that means i have to sunblock his ears and neck.

We try! The sun is SO bright here we try to tell her she needs either a hat or sunglasses but she can pick.

Both my boys wear sunhats (2 and 5.5). They have fair skin and anything that keeps me from having to lather them with sunscreen all over their bodies I try to use!

Yes, if I know she's going to be out for longer than a few minutes. We got one at Costco last year and it's been great.

No. He is 4 and sometimes I can get him to wear a baseball hat. He has never liked wearing hats. Now we are trying to get him to wear sunglasses when we are outside. He is starting to keep them on when I ask, but sometimes he just doesn't want to.

He has a cap that I offer him when it's sunny, but I don't worry if he doesn't want to wear it. He has to wear suncream if it's a sunny day though. But we're in England so we don't exactly get through a lot of it!

How do you guys get your kids to wear hats? J HATES them and has found a way to get every hat off his head. It'd be so much easier if he'd just wear it instead of having to slather the sun-screen all over his face.
